You make it look easy but it is not. Working on the ground like that. So respect for that!

Good video. That's a fair old weight to have on your chest, I normally put a trolley jack under the 'box.

Do you know why I would get a leak of oil from the clutch which smells burnt when driving? I have checked and it comes from the box where the gear cables are connected.

Hi, l own a WP Ford Fiesta, l’m in Australia, l have noticed that the gear changes are becoming harder or not even engaging into the selected gears, I’m wondering if you can adjust the cable instead of replacing the whole unit with a new clutch and cable? Would like some tips if any?
@WMCS4 жыл бұрын
They are unfortunately hydraulically operated... the stiffness of gear change would suggest the clutch pressure plate tensioner springs are now inop. So unfortunately you’d require a clutch kit change. .., hope that helps.

@nmo8885 жыл бұрын
Nice job Kevin 👍 I’ve got the same job on same car soon,do you know if there’s a chance of an 2003 having a dmf flywheel ?
@WMCS5 жыл бұрын
thanks.. is it a petrol or diesel your one mate..
@nmo8885 жыл бұрын
It’s a 1.6 Zetec petrol. I’m pretty sure it’s not dmf now. Good to see the ball joint pinch bolt came out easy, I had one last month that needed a lot of heat before it moved 🙈
@WMCS5 жыл бұрын
It will be a solid flywheel, The trick to getting the pinch bolt out is to split the centre of the hub holding the bolt in with a chisel.. that way it releases it then you can knock it out.. no heat required. hope it goes ok for you...

Is there clips or bolts to the driver shaft in side ? Or it's just the men hub bolt which holds in place ?

Why on earth don't all cars have the system vauxhall used in the 1980's on the cavalier, and have a removable cover on the bellhousing, to make clutch replacement simple and fast?
@WMCS3 жыл бұрын
I’ve heard of them .., but never actually seen one ..

@WMCS4 жыл бұрын
Howy glad to hear you managed to get it back on. What was it in the end.
@howy57994 жыл бұрын
@@WMCS the friction plate wasnt alligned. Then tried to put the gearbox back in with the bracket thats holding it to the subframe at the bottom (saving abit of time i was thinking). We did get it in fairly quickly but the friction took ages, now ive hit another problem- the clutch thrust bearing wont bleed either
@WMCS4 жыл бұрын
Howy glad to hear you got it back on. Now with the bleeding either the master cylinder has failed or you’ve got some air trapped in the system. 1. Prime the master cylinder by pumping the pedal no more than 2 inches from the bottom ... as soon as there’s a slight bit of resistance hold it down whilst some opens and shut the slave cylinder nipple. Do that a few times and the fourth time lift the pedal no more than halfway and repeat the same procedure. If that doesn’t work. A replacement clutch master cylinder will be needed and you should be ok after that

Hi Kevin, great video as ever! Are you using a 3 ton jack? Does it provide enough clearance? Also, might be a good idea to wear masks because the dust may contain asbestos. Thank you!
@jimmyjimjim75994 жыл бұрын
You're suggesting asbestos has been used on a 2004 ford focus despite the use of any asbestos being banned pre 2000???
@soldiersvejk20534 жыл бұрын
Jimmy JimJim I only know that asbestos is banned in interior design, not sure if it is also banned in clutches and brakes. After all,I think most mechanics agree that brake dust is bad. Clutch dust is likely to be similar, if not worse.
