Man I miss these days , the old cars, that high pitch snarling beast sound of the pack of cars, the old Hendrick/DEI rivalries of the restrictor plate domination, good times.

G Jam more like Jeff Gordon vs DEI. Lol. Although in 06 Jimmie had more success then Jeff.

G Jam Agreed!!! I don’t like the pack racing today. Unable to make moves and separate yet, still be close to make up time if in line. Like everything else in life. It’ll eventually be back to what it was. In some sense

Gordon used this same car at Talladega for the spring race the following year. Clearly the most dominant car in the field. Great run at the restrictor plate tracks for Jeff from this race until 2005 spring Talladaga, winning 3 out of the 4 races.

This was a awesome, I was there in 2004 when Jeff won from the pole, but there was some tragedy, a man with his daughter got hit by lightning 50 ft from where I was standing in the souvenir area outside the speedway, girl was ok, but the dad wasn't, they didn't take the green til after 930pm and ended close to 1am, hell of a good feeling to see your favorite driver win in person.

NASCAR used to be such a glorious thing to sit down and watch on a Sunday (or Saturday night). Throw some burgers and hot dogs on the grill, throw a 12 pack on ice…… Don’t get me started on how awesome it was if you had the honor of being at Talladega in the mid 90s early 2000s Now it’s just pure political garbage with empty seats, like everything else

Between the years of 1997/98 - 2006/07 was the best these things sounded and raced at these restrictor plate tracks. I may be off a year or so. Hence the reason I put the seasons as I did. I forgot the 98 Pepsi 400 was the first year for it being under the lights.

The only Restrictor Plate Races that DEI and HMS didn't win from 2001 to 2007 was the 2001 Talladega 500, 2002 Daytona 500, 2003 Pepsi 400, 2005 Pepsi 400 2005 UAW Ford 500, and 2006 Pepsi 400. Also since the Cup Series went to the Gen6 car in 2013, Ford has won 12 of the 21 Restrictor Plate Races. 7(5 straight) at Talladega and 5 at Daytona.

Wasn’t it weird that Fox was broadcasting the Pepsi 400
@justinturley7071 Жыл бұрын
Nope. From 2001-2006 the first exclusive contract for only 3 channels to show 1 half of the season and the other half. This was under the FOX and NBC/TNT deal. Where FOX would get the Daytona 500 in odd numbered years (2001, 2003, 2005) and NBC show the Pepsi 400 and NBC have the Daytona 500 in even numbered years (2002, 2004, 2006), and FOX show the Pepsi 400 those years. Once ESPN came back in 2007, the schedule was now split into 3 different channels, FOX had the first 12 races exclusive rights to the Daytona 500, and they had Daytona-Dover, and with NBC dropping out, TNT took the 6 race schedule, known as the summer series, from Pocono-Chicagoland, then ESPN/ABC had Brickyard-Homestead, it would remain that way till 2014. When NBC came back, and the old schedule was back, with FOX and NBC airing their races for a half a season, minus both networks airing the 500.
