It’s a good car. I’ve had mines for 17 years but I had to have the rear axle replaced. Had to order it from Japan. I think Suzuki knew there was an issue. I don’t think the mechanic was ready for all you did. Anywho, this will be my last year with her. She’s still running really well but I’m ready for a Lexus LX 570.

Its quite a bit of work but its cheaper to rebuild it than try to find a used/new axle. 17 years is a dang long time to own the same vehicle. Longest ive owned a vehicle for is 8 years. Thanks for taking time to comment love to read them and enjoy your Lexus.

@@PostalRedneck I was 33/34 when i bought it and it will be almost 17 years in a few months. I’m 50 now and it has 138k miles on it. Needs a new starter. I guess I can only be so mad after almost 17 years & it needs that. I’m not even trading it in. I’ll get the started fixed and sell it to my stylist for $1000 because she’s walking. I figure if I’m going to give the car away I’ll give it away to someone who could really use it.

Have a 04 that started making a noise returning home from a trip noise is on acceleration and deceleration both rear wheel bearings are leaking so I'm thinking they are my problem but not sure any information would be greatly appreciated TY brother
@PostalRedneck

Im sure you leaked out enough though the axle seals to possibly starve the pinion bearings of oil.

Mine makes a whinnying noise so to speak gets loudest around 35-45 mph speed up and gets a little quieter but as you slow to a stop you can hear it a little more again noise is exactly with the speed of the truck not thinking it's the driveshaft but not sure TY... 💯💯💯💪💪💪🙏🙏🙏☝️👌

@PostalRedneck

That is the axle shaft. You need to remove both driver and passenger side to remove the center section of the axle.

@@PostalRedneck sweet reply! are they held in by c clips?
@PostalRedneck
@PostalRedneck 2 жыл бұрын
Axles with a center section like this XL7 and Ford 9 inch are held in with the outer axle bearings. You have to unbolt the axle bearings and then slide them out.

That sounds like it could be a missing tooth on the ring gear. You wont know until you take it apart unfortunately.

Working on a date for the mud mow. Too many people couldn't make it the 15th and the week after that is Detroit Gambler 500 so its getting pushed way back. I guess thats a good thing as quite a few people still dont have there mowers done yet.

Good video I have the same car. They ride pretty good for those old models. I bet your engine light is probably P0455 Evap Leak. Question where do the rear wheel bearings go? I know the pinion goes in the differential hub. Thanks in advance
@PostalRedneck
@PostalRedneck 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I only owned this for about 2 months and sold it so I dont know a whole lot about it unfortunately. The rear wheel bearing are on the axles. When I unbolt the rear axle and then put the tire on and kick the bearing off you can see it. Hope this helps.

I know this is old so you probably don't even remember but... I have 2001 suzuki GV and it sounds like the rear diff is making a lot of noise. I get noise as soon as I'm in movement, noise is proportional to speed and I have different noises if the vehicle is accelerating or decelerating. I'm wondering what kind of noise was that car making? Do you think it is possible that some of the bearings are dead or do you think the pinions and gears might be dead?
@PostalRedneck
@PostalRedneck 9 ай бұрын
Mine only made the noise proportional to speed. Sounds like you might have a ring and pinion going out on yours. You could try to get a sample of the fluid from the diff and see if there's metal shavings in it.
@0bob0211

@PostalRedneck Yeah, that would be a good indicator! I'll make sure to check it out. Thks!
@PostalRedneck

Come to think about it I think it was making a different noise based off weather I was under acceleration or deceleration.
@0bob0211
@0bob0211 9 ай бұрын
that's good to know. I haven't had the time to check the oil but it looks like there is an awful lot of play in the driveshaft so it might indicate that one of the bearings is done. Maybe the pinion one?
