1) if I empty the transmission completely, will it be about 4.5 Quarts/4.2Litres of fluid to fill? 2) to make sure it is filled to the correct level, do I need to fill it with only the outer drain plug removed (leaving the inner/2nd plug bolt screwed in)? Does this transmission have an overflow tube, meaning that I have to keep filling from the top, shift into park/reverse/N, and then keep filling until adding even a little bit of fluid causes it to drain right back out? To empty it completely take off the outer plug and inner tube. That inner tube goes up inside there and almost acts like a fill marker. You can pump it up in thru the drain plug but make sure you have that sleeve up in there. Or you can fill it from that fill plug up top and put about 4.5 quarts in it as long as it completely empty and then on a lvl surface just remove the outer drain plug and if you happend to fill it to full the excess fluid will flow over the inner tube.

What i put on mine was valvoline MaxLife Multi-Vehicle Full Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF)

You can get a bottle of it at Walmart for 17.99 or I think it like 30 bucks at autozone

You have to disassemble the trans to get to the filter...it is not needed though unless your transmission has blown in which case a rebuild would get a new filter installed

Autozone carries a atf that is for multiple makes and models thats what I used.
