09G 6-Speed Automatic Transmission Fluid Change (Aisin) | VW Golf MK5

I just did one of these on an 09 Jetta MK5. I took a different approach. -T30 bit for main and overflow plug. -10mm for pan bolts. -changed filter. -reused gasket. -$19 Amazon pump. -ATF full synthetic. -brake line fitting works perfect for refill. -pump in the same amount of fluid that came out. (3 quarts) -drove for 1 week. -drain 3 more quarts -refilled I’ve tried the warm up method, and it never made a difference in my experiences.

Thanks . Unfortunately, it's what happens when previous shops don't bother putting a washer on the drain bolt and why the repair manual emphasizes to replace it 5 times in the procedure.

If you're doing this and don't have the pump and attachments to fill from the bottom there is a fill plug on the front of the transmission, it takes a T-55 Torx to open it. you can add fluid through there using a small piece of hose or the spout from the bottles if you use the fluid used in the video. Places like amazon and harbor freight also carry inexpensive transfer pumps. I filled my through the fill port up front with the car running so I could get the ATF up to temp. I inserted the fill level tube but left the drain bolt out. When fluid started to come out of the drain I put the drain bolt back in. This is an easy service that VW dealers will charge you $400 to perform.

if i have a breather plug above gearbox i can fill in that instead of doing this ? Just unplugg the breather and fill.

You can make a fluid pump from a Walmart garden sprayer an a matching fitting for under $20. For those who don't need to buy the expensive version only to use it once every 5 years

Hello, my friend. I watched your video, and I also performed transmission maintenance, but unfortunately, the oil level pipe was broken. It might have been broken during the previous maintenance because I couldn’t find the broken piece. When I searched online, I found different pipes like 40 mm, 50 mm, and 60 mm. Do you remember how many millimeters yours was? By the way, thank you for sharing the video and guiding us.

Thx . No, I haven't measured the length on it. But would recommend if you can find an online vw parts diagram that uses VIN numbers and check what's the part number of the pipe, then look up where you could buy that part number.

Nice video. I have done it also, but gearbox start to change gears harder. Sometimes when car drives off gearbox is on 5th gears. Thinks on removing valve body and wash every oil path. Any ideas?

do you think that Having too much oil can make the gearbox overheat? because whenever the engine is warm and then my Gearbox gives problems ( 1st to 2nd and 3rd and 6th Kicks ,sometimes takes too long to go into reverse) i got an Audi A3 2.0 Fsi Sportback 8PA with the exact same Gearbox and struggling to find how much liters my gearbox is supposed to hold and when i Drained my gearbox ,About 6.5 liters came out. When my car is Cold it drives perfectly normal . Someone please Help, Have a nice day.

Is 30k miles too early to do a fluid drain and fill on 09G? I’m looking at the interval in my Haynes manual. Or should I change it every 50-60k?

The interval in my owner's manual is 60k km or every 4 years. Better to check the owner's manual over the Haynes manual in my opinion.

@@ZakiGarage oh ok. 60k km is 37500 miles. So not far off from my 30k mile /48k km interval. My owners manual doesn’t show trans fluid change intervals at all.

You used 4.liter but others said 4.5 L ? I have Shake it in second gear? I changed oil transmission 4 liter Do you think I should add half a liter until the shaking goes away in gear 2?

Repair manual says to start filling with 3L, if no oil comes out when checking level than add 1L more. If still no more oil comes out then you can add another 1L. Need to make sure oil level is correct, over filling will not help.
