Excellent tutorial. I tried a set of HAmazon sourced aftermarket seals, and experienced the same crooked installation, with one side of the seal getting pressed slightly too deep. They went in very easily, and then I was able to easily remove them with a hooked finger - I had zero confidence in them. So I sourced a pair of Yamaha OEM seals this evening, and will reattempt the process tomorrow. Wanted to see if anyone had a better installation tool than the 30 mm socket, which is exactly what I used as well. What I’ve learned: Stick with OEM when it comes to seals. I sourced aftermarket driveshaft, couplers, axle shafts, and brakes, and they’re all quite nice for the cost. But seals are just so important, and have such tight tolerances. Worth the extra cost in my opinion. (And those little buggers do cost! Oh well). Thanks for the excellent video. Great camera angles, lighting, editing, and no endless rambling about obvious mechanical principles. Just relevant information presented efficiently. Well done!

@@atvsanonymous It appears you installed a similar aftermarket drive shaft as I did (Niche Industries ). Have you had any issues with the engine side CV boot rubbing against the transmission snorkel tube? The factory shaft had smaller diameter boots that cleared the tube, and the new one slightly rubs against it. Hoping it won’t cause a problem

@@atvsanonymous After contacting Niche Industries they confirmed the shaft was assembled with the wrong cv boots. The’ve overnighted me a replacement, and it has the correct size boots on it. Thanks for the reply!

I clean diff electrical connectors with contact cleaner then I use dielectric on contact pins before reconnecting to prevent moisture intrusion.

I came looking for tips for my leaking front diff on my '16 Grizz 700, left wondering about your secret parenting skills. Never in my 12 years as a parent have I heard, "Dad, is there anything I can help you with," to which I replied, "Clean your room," and I heard "Okay." What wizardry are you using, sir? Good job, great video.

I guess another 5 years is All you need 😂. No, I guess I've been blessed with good kids. Although, that is not a normal interaction. There is usually a lot of complaining. There must have been something really important to them happening soon.

The shaft on my 2002 grizzly 660 is like leaking something onto the shaft that runs to the back shafts and break let me know what you think that fluid might be

Must be engine oil. You will need to remove the rear differential and rear drive shaft so you can replace that seal. I made a video where I replaced the rear cv axle. That should help you get started.

Question? Would you know by any chance why my spring seems like it's pushing shaft half way out of motor side. It's not flush on both sides. Slides back and forth

i would think that most rubber seals would benefit from a lubricant during installation.

There are Teflon type seals that are installed dry. But yes, most seals should be lubricated to aid in installation.

I assume you mean the front drive shaft. I would look for a new one before putting it back together. I wonder if it needs it on both sides or just the transmission side.
