One win that year against either LSU or South Carolina and Florida would've played LSU in the Championship game in Atlanta. It was Steve Spurrier who derailed those plans when South Carolina upset Florida, which cost them the SEC East. I feel the '05 Gators under Meyer definitely learned a lot that year and it set them up for the 06 Team that won it all.

I refused to work late for my gf during this game(I worked at the restaurant she managed 1 day a week). She was so mad I wouldn't work late, sorry babe, this is the FSU game. I then went and watched it on her big TV in her apartment until she got home. She was all, I hope your team loses. They didn't, lol. Somehow we are still married all these years later.

9:28 RIP Avery Atkins. This was his best game as a Gator. Suffered a drug overdose about two years after this. He was Urban Meyers highest rated recruit his first year in Gainesville. So much potential but struggled with drugs and unintended fatherhood as a 20 year old. He left UF, played a few games at Bethune-Cookman and re-enrolled at Florida then quit again. His death was an unimaginable tragedy for his family. I guess his son is probably in high school now. Pray for Avery’s family.

I never got to see this one. We were driving back from North Carolina and sitting on I-95 north of Jax, in a traffic jam. My friend texts and says, "I bet you're loving this." With him you never knew if he was serious or being a dick. I tried to get the game on in the radio but couldn't. Got home and learned how badly we kicked fsu's ass. 2005: no smart phones at that point. Two takeaways from this game. 1. The story of Avery Atkins is so damn sad. 2. I had forgotten all about Markus Manson.

Rob, too funny, you have no idea as to how many of my friends can be classified as " Serious or being a Dick". When I worked for the DOJ in the 80's I walked into the staff lounge and my buddy (Bama Freak) asked me how much money we had on the game? I told him "nothing" and he said nothing and the score came up like we beat them by 35. For the next four years, we paid each other back that would be considered historical.
