Just finished this job this week: you definitely need a crows foot. also a 3/8th breaker bar is helpful for the flange nut. It's also good to have an extra set of hands because on this job... putting the flange nut back in straight without any cross threading may be the hardest part of this job. Also it sucks if you don't have a lift...

Came for the power steering hose. I like the rest. I run older cars with lower mileage for the year. I haven't had a car payment in ten years. Love it. I think I can take my '07 Accord to 1M miles.

Thanks! You know I think a Honda can go 1,000,000 miles with an owner that looks after it and is willing to spin wrenches.

@@millionmilegarage9587 my mom had a late 80's Accord in the early 90's, before it was totaled by a drunk driver, it had 465,xxx miles and it ran like a top. Well on it's way.

Update: completed the job. It was challenging. Not as bad as my wife's 06 Maxima. I had to buy a flare nut crows foot ratchet. That was a game changer. Highly recommend it for doing this job. Awesome video.

I’m doing the job now. You are absolutely correct! That flare nut is almost impossible to put back. Tomorrow I will try again. I would recommend not installing the top fitting or any of the clamps before installing that flare nut. You will definitely need a 14 mm crowsfoot flare wrench to tighten that flare nut to the rack.

I hear ya, it’s a tough one. I had to walk away from it and regain my composure. What worked for me was jiggling the hose while turning the nut with my finger. I didn’t put a wrench to it until I could turn it with my fingers, you want to know it’s not cross threaded. Not one of Honda’s better components placement. I can remember when I thought a second gen. Camaro was challenging to work on😄

Nice job, great video of real life DIY auto mechanics. I prefer to do it myself not for the money but knowing it’s done right and I don’t have to kiss anyone’s @$# to get an appointment. Thanks !

If you don’t have a lift you’re gonna need jack stands.

Do you have a video showing the return side replacement? I hit a lightpole right on the front corner of driver's side. Knocked the power steering out. Havent got the van back yet, but pretty sure I'm gonna end up needing to replace the return line. 🙄
@millionmilegarage958711 ай бұрын
Hi Amanda, that sounds like an unfortunate mishap. I do not have a video for replacing the return line. Based on experience the hard lines and fittings are typically reusable with only the rubber and hose clamps being the items replaced on a return line. If you have collision damage that may require locating parts not typically treated as service replacement items. This is just a general assumption based on small block Chevy logic. When possible I will try to post a short on the return line set up for the Odyssey. Best of luck!

I see I have a hose that is leaking. The hose is located behind the front bumber. If you remove the cover to fog light, there is a hose there that is saturated. I'm wondering if this is a power steering hose or coolant hose
@millionmilegarage9587 Жыл бұрын
Pretty sure it is not PS related, if it is red/tranny fluid than you may have a trans cooler/line or hose leak.
@edwinaragon8469 Жыл бұрын
@@millionmilegarage9587 the line that is leaking is a rubber hose that is located on the driver side front bumber. It connects to a hard line that goes across the front bumper, but is leaking from the side. Again, it is located behind the fog light cover on the driver side bumber. I removed that over and saw the connection
@millionmilegarage9587 Жыл бұрын
@@edwinaragon8469 Pretty sure that hard line is a trans cooler, the standard factory one is very light duty so looks like a tube or hard line.

So funny story... I cross threaded the lower part of the hose... Any suggestions on a fix or what's the size of the threads so I can try a tap or use a helicoil or something...
@millionmilegarage9587 Жыл бұрын
Going off memory the hose seals on the tube and not the threads, so not tapered threads. It’s probably standard metric threads. I would try taking the hose to lowes or O’Reilly and find a metric nut that it threads into, then you will know what tap to buy. That’s gonna be a tight spot to run a tap but probably possible.
