I replaced the rear today. It would not let me put the writing up. The circumstance was to small to fit with writing up.

Thank you for the video. I do not think I could have completed the job without it. Lots of busted knuckles and sore hands today. I think it was a bit tougher on a non lifted truck? I had to cut some of the wheel liner away in order to have room for the Allen key at least on the passenger side. On the drivers side, I found I could get to the top of the nut through the engine bay, at least on the triton V10. Hope that helps someone else.

Great job. I just upgraded my stops with sumo springs front and back.

Why not put the top stud in the front first then push up and bolt the bottom? That was easier for me

Why are the rear shocks mounted upside down? The mounts appeared to be the same.
@BLUECOLLARGARAGE Жыл бұрын
They are supposed to be mounted this way. According to bilstein it helps the boots drain and keep dirt and moisture out.

great job on the video. Think this is something I'll do to my 23 F350. Maybe if I do it soon enough the nuts won't be do tough to remove. It looks pretty tight under there on mine without a lift so we'll see. I hear good things about the Fox 2.0. Expensive but think I'll try.

Really enjoyed your video on drain and replacing coolant on my 2019 F-350. Used that vacuum tool too. Thanks for the great detailed instructions. My question is what brand of brake replacement/upgrade do you recommend? I am looking at R1Concepts or PowerStop. Thank you Sir. 🇺🇸
@BLUECOLLARGARAGE Жыл бұрын
Never used R1Concepts but I have used powerstop many times and have never had issues with them you just need to make sure you follow the break in procedure for the pads and rotors. Some of the negative reviews on them are because people not following that break in procedure correctly.

Thanks for the video. One question for you. How did you determine the torque values? Do those come in the paperwork with the shocks?
@susiervo19 ай бұрын
Use a large lever flat head pry bar to compress the shock
@masonburgess71225 ай бұрын
Mine does not fit upside down for the rear The bolt is too big for the opening on the shock and I definitely ordered the right one
@BLUECOLLARGARAGE5 ай бұрын
Sometimes you have to put a little grease on it and move it up and down back and forth to get it to since inside the shock mount

Big fan of watching your videos you have in-depth information a lot of people skip out on. That's a good question for you I got a 6036 l dually rear wheel drive I was thinking about making it four-wheel drive but it wouldn't be worth the cost or just buying another truck for wheel what do you think for the conversion if it's worth it?
@BLUECOLLARGARAGE5 ай бұрын
That would be quite a bit of work. Honestly I would just buy another truck.

2017 F350 here. My rear shocks have the boots at the top and the bilstein logos are at the bottom but are readable. I did not install them so the letters are upside down. What gives??

Great video
@alleydog43098 ай бұрын
FYI. the rear shocks are installed upside down. They will probably work the same, don’t know why they wouldn’t, but over time the debris covers may wear prematurely and expose the piston shafts to a lot of dust and rock nicks that may damage the seals.
@BLUECOLLARGARAGE8 ай бұрын
Many people have commented on this issue. The rear shocks are supposed to be mounted like this even confirmed this with bilstein. The label is supposed to be readable and not upside down. So the way I mounted them is the correct way.

@@BLUECOLLARGARAGE I just installed mine maybe they switched them up or something, because mine are able to be read with the boot on top. but great videos that you have.

Excellent video - so glad I found it. I'm about to apply what I learned on the Bilsteins that arrived at my door yesterday! One question though - you mentioned 66 ft lbs for the rear shocks - I found other people saying it is 111 ft lbs for lower bolts on both the front and rear. Are you sure it's 66?
@BLUECOLLARGARAGE Жыл бұрын
I have a couple ford manual’s and one says 66 and the other says 111 but then I saw somewhere else where it says 46 so that’s why I went with 66 since it’s more towards the middle. But honestly if you go anywhere between 66-111 you’ll be fine.

the billsteun logo should be readable, i think you put them on backwards
@BLUECOLLARGARAGE Жыл бұрын
Are you talking about the rears? If so they are readable these shocks are designed to be mounted like this. If they were flipped to where the boot is on top then the bilstien logo would be upside down and unreadable.
@nonegiven45524 ай бұрын
@@BLUECOLLARGARAGEnot on mine. 2022 F350, logos readable, boots on top, different bolt sizes top and bottom. Can’t possibly be installed incorrectly.
