We loved ours as well unfortunately the Northstar engine had started to give us issues though so we sold it. My dad now has a Buick park Avenue

Lemuel Marshall that’s awesome; two words of advice, A; make sure you keep a eye on the oil level between oil changes; the northstar engines consume oil under normal operation to keep cool, and B; be sure to press the blue onstar system button on your mirror; and tell them you have not used it before; and you will get a 4 month free trial or there about; then I highly recommend you get at least the safety package so you have automatic crash response and if you lock the keys in the car by mistake you can call onstar and they will unlock the car for you!

Just put down a deposit on a 2005 DeVille base model very similar to this one. Florida car with just under 50K miles: $6,250. Thanks much for this video, very informative!

Shea Oakley awesome, I’m glad you enjoyed the video and I hope you enjoy your new ride, 50K miles is extremely low for a 2005 model year vehicle... two words of advice from experience with these cars, A; make sure you keep a eye on the oil level between oil changes; the northstar engines consume oil under normal operation to keep cool (Cadillac recommends full synthetic motoroil also known as dexos , and B; be sure to press the blue onstar system button on your mirror; and tell them you have not used it before; and you will get a 4 month free trial or there about; then I highly recommend you get at least the safety package so you have automatic crash response and if you lock the keys in the car by mistake you can call onstar and they will unlock the car for you! @@Underappreciatedclassics Oh, one other thing, I noticed what looked like an aftermarket back-up camera on your dad's car. Any info on where I could find a similar one?

Shea Oakley hello again Shea, believe it or not we bought our Cadillac with that pre installed by the previous owner, so I don’t know exactly where that exact head unit and camera system came from, but I recommend you try looking around at bestbuy eBay or rockauto.com to see if you can find that one or something similar... let me know if you find one that is decent enough for installation and perhaps drop a link in the comments here and I will post it in the description in the video above. Thanks again for watching and hopefully I have been of assistance

Dual muffler not exhaust. Your car does not have variable valve timing or cylinder deactivation. Also it’s 26 hwy not 36. Where did you get your information from?

I hate modern luxury cars, EXCEPT for these four: Rolls Royce Phantom Mercedes Maybach Audi A8L BMW 7 Series Genesis G90 Everything else pisses me off. Hey man I love the Deville. My kind of car. But unfortunately no one takes care of them so they're loaded with problems. And also the Northstar V8s tend to have all sorts of issues. When they work, great engines, and when they don't...not good. But honestly the Town Car is just as good. Obviously nothing rides like a Cadillac but the Town Car is much more reliable and it's still intimidating at night when you flash your brights at a left lane hogger. Just make sure you get one with the hood ornament :D

The 1 with a hood ornament is the base Deville. The DTS & DHS are the ones that are fully loaded.

You are mistaken about the engine's ability to shut down active cylinders. The engine you're referring to was known as the V-8-6-4 ( L62 ) which debuted in 1981. It was an engineering disaster!
@Underappreciatedclassics3 жыл бұрын
Please watch this video directly from Cadillac. This technology actually exists in the 32V-Northstar. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jYKYcoSOmJ2aptE
@blackericdenice Жыл бұрын
@@UnderappreciatedclassicsNo it doesn’t. You are confused. if the engine overheats it shuts down cylinders to keep from overheating.
@blackericdenice Жыл бұрын
@@Underappreciatedclassics You need to watch the video again. It did not say anything about variable valve timing or shutting down cylinders to save gas.

Second generation Northstar. Excellent engine. The first generation Northstar was a total disaster.
@Underappreciatedclassics3 жыл бұрын
It was the headstuds. They were too small on the (1993-2002) generation 32-Valve Northstar’s. When they broke the engine would legitimately throw a rod right through the engine block.
