THANK YOU! Your video was to the point and very informative! I found a tiny piece of rubber hose stuck to the needle. Luckily there was no gas in the cylinder, just a ton of it in the crankcase. I carefully followed everything thing you said, and am back up and running with no issues. If I had someone to share this with, I definitely would. Unfortunately out of 300+ homes in our community, I only know of 3 gassers. 👍👍❤️

Thanks Kevin great video !! I have the same problem now with my 99DS FE290-AS17 engine. Found gas in the oil dipstick that splashed out when removed. I order new fuel pump and carburetor from amazon ! Looks like from your video i could pull everything and give it a good cleaning with oil and fuel filter change ? Did you determine that the cause was from the debris in the tank ? Was the float okay ?

Usually the float sticks due to debris or water. Water will cause the rubber to swell a bit. Most of the time, if you take it apart and clean it, let it dry overnight and the rubber should shrink back down. Avoid spraying carb cleaner on anything rubber. It will swell and be ruined.

Another great video Kevin. You started to say something about the overflow could cause this issue? Does this issue happen with other models of carts commonly? I've had it happen to my G1 several years ago. Darn near hydro locked it. Thanks again for the excellent content

If the overflow is exposed, without the drain tube installed, it could allow for dirt and moisture to get in easily.

Have you ever seen one of those fuel pumps fail in a way that it throws gas through that vacuum tube or whatever it is ?

Its rare but, it does happen. The diaphragm can fail and allow fuel to flow back through the vacuum line.

Did you get the job of cleaning the tank? My guess is no by what I saw but then you said "good clean gas" when you primed it so I don't know. Did you put a new needle/seat in the carb or just clean it good? Can't recall if these have the removable needle seat or not.

We ended up bringing this one back to do the gas tank cleaning. The carb got stuck again and I did what I wanted to do from the beginning. These carbs don't have any replacement parts so they just get cleaned or replaced, depending on if the cleaning works.

I only see this issue with the single cylinder engines. The 2 cylinder Robin engine rarely, if ever, had this issue.

I'm going out to try to fix it this weekend with the help of your video, otherwise we would have to transport the cart to a repair shop. Only thing is, I don't have replacement gaskets or fuel filter, thought I could maybe work-a-round.? Great video, you explain things very well.

You can get fuel filters and some gasket material at an auto parts store. It comes in a big sheet and you can cut out any size gasket you need.

Question, our ez-go with Kawasaki engine seems to be having the same issue. although it runs ok,,, the dip stick is covered with white sledge and the oil sprays out of the drain hole and it smells of gasoline. has anyone installed a small 12 volt controlled inline valve for the gas line just before the carb that when the key is turned on it opens the valve?

You shouldn't have to add any type of electronic solenoid valve. You will need to remove the carb, clean it and reinstall it. This happens when the float valve sticks open allowing fuel to flood the crank case. You will also need to change the fuel filter, engine oil and filter. Don't run the engine with gas in the oil. It will damage this engine. Using clean, fresh ethanol-free gas nearly eliminates this issue. Be careful with cleaning the carb on these engines. Everything is plastic and rubber. The rubber parts will swell if they come into contact with carb cleaner. The rubber tip on the float valve and bowl o-ring are the 2 main parts to avoid spraying with carb cleaner. This will ruin the carb and you will have to replace it since parts are hard to find.

If you have an amber engine light on the dash, you have fuel injection. If you only have an oil light, then its carbureted.

2017 was the year they went to EFI. Subaru EX40. There's still an oil light, but it is also used as a check engine light. It flashes for fault codes. Some carby Yamaha have a Check Engine light but is really a low oil level light.
