Some tips for those doing this install: 1. Drill your holes through the bracket (after bolting it to the bed), it will save you a ton of time. My holes were slightly off, so I had to re-drill and repaint everything. Pain. 2. Start by bolting the lone top bolt that faces perpendicular to the other three bolts to bring the bracket in tight to the bed, then check your holes again. 3. That lone top bolt is a pain to paint and add silicone to because of an inner frame bracket, start tightening that one first. 4. I highly recommend silicone and paint on exposed metal at the back of the truck, that whole bedside areas is exposed to the elements and everything under/inside/around the taillights gets covered in mud.

I installed his kit and had an issue with the D-ring. It will not spin in place without adding a fender washer to serve as a spacer underneath. This is probably because the hole cut-out is so large. Speaking of which, both hole cut-outs for the bed bolts are rather large; I don't see why; maybe the bolts differ in location a bit between the different bed configurations? I use a 12 mm fender washer to resolve the issue but then that reduces the number of threads that the bolt engages which was reduced to about 2 turns. I replaced them with 10 mm bolts; which fit through the M11 nut spot welded to the chassis. That's right, Toyota uses an extremely rare M11 bolt for the D-ring. I used a 10.9 grade bolt but will upgrade to a 12.9 grade in my next purchase of metric bolts. May even get M12 stainless washers. BTW, the metric allan key size for the button bolts is 5.5 mm, a size I happen to have as I have no SAE allan wrenches. I also found the washers in the kit to be rather thin and small for the inside, with the nuts. I replaced those with M10 fender washers. Liking the brackets otherwise, especially the hole for CB antenna; will be using it for a light pole.

Having issue removing T40 tie down bolts . Already snapped a bit trying to remove by hand and my drill is too weak. Any suggestions?

I have a 3rd gen Tacoma with the original Tacoma bed mat will I still be able to use that or will I have to modify it the fit flat in the bed?

That bracket looks like it would be in way if I wanted to lay plywood flat down it really looks like it is going to get in my way I think a large size flat L bracket would be better then what these things look like..

You can still put plywood in or pallets. They don't get in the way. We measured it when designing these. The brackets are specifically designed with not only strength in mind but also functionality.

Why do you send me standard thread hardware on a aftermarket part for my Japanese designed truck built in metric spec? If you can’t drill through the bracket as a template with the frame bed bolt and a C-lamp then quit early. You make it take more time than it should and use to many tools plus no one with a Taco wants to deal with standard toolin a truck kit. Cmon

Other than looks and tie down purposes this product seems pretty useless for most Tacoma owners.

Hi Chase! So we can see how that might be the first impression, however, these are actually quite useful for Tacoma's specifically due to the structural weakness of the truck bed. Not to get too technical, but the Tacoma's have a slight engineering flaw when it comes to the bed of the truck. These bed supports help reinforce the side walls to ensure that the bed can take all the extra weight and rough riding most overlanders will put on the vehicle.
