Replaced battery. Ezgo would not start.I replaced old terminals with new ones. Cart starts right up. Thanks Kevin!

I unhooked my positive cable from the cart. 2 weeks later hooked it up and hit the key and the pedal and NOTHING. The battery is brand new. Installed it in January of 2022. The solenoid won't even click. The fuse on the solenoid is OK. Would just like to know what I need to do now. My cart is a 2007 EZGO Sport. Any ideas let me know.

New or not, check the voltage of the battery. I've seen brand new batteries less than a month old just die. Use a volt meter and check battery voltage with the cart connected, key on and pedal pressed. If it drops to nothing, then the battery is shot or just needs a recharge. If it shows good, test the voltage at the solenoid.. Start with that and if it all checks out, you have a bad micro switch or connection somewhere in the harness.

Interesting. I have a 2002 EZGO TXT. I have a hot wire that broke off. Has no start. No juice going to the switch under the floor board. I don't know where my broken red wire goes to. The Red wire from the gray wrapped harness goes to the a spade to the switch you are working on in this video. I am wondering if my wire is supposed to connect to that same spade? It appears you hooked two wires to one spade and plugged it in.

I am hoping you can help me out and answer a question for me. My 2001 club car ds 48 volt golf cart is quickly losing power going up hills. The batteries are only a year old and charge to 51 volts and discharge to 47.8 going up the hills so I don't think it's a battery issue. All battery cables are new. Could you recommend what the problem might be? Maybe the controller or something? It runs absolutely fine on flat surfaces, just struggling up hills. Thanks

I know this is a long shot, but we have the transmission out of our ezgo st500 4x4, waiting on parts. But it won't turn over at all, just the click in the solenoid. Is there any kind of sensor on the transmission that would kp it from starting without the transmission in it? We checked fuses & wire connections. Any advice would be very appreciated.

So what does it mean if it does start when you spin the engine over by hand? I'm assuming that means the starter is going bad? It also works if you depress the pedal and tap the starter with a hammer. Could that be just the brushes on the starter?

Have a similar problem with my '95 medalist. Starts fine when its cold, but wont crank, (no sound) after it has warmed up and run for awhile. Replaced starter/generator. What else might be causing the problem? thx

It sounds like the solenoid is starting to fail. The solenoid is on constantly (all golf carts use 100% duty cycle solenoids) when the engine is starting and running. When they get hot and weak, they can sometimes not energize.

Its not hard. There should be a bolt that holds the battery clamp at the bottom of the battery and 2 battery connections. Remember to remove the Negative cable FIRST and reinstall it LAST.

Check for voltage at the starter/generator. If there is voltage, then the brushes may have failed or the starter/generator is bad.

I have noticed the lawn mower selonoids are 12V and the ones listed for golf carts are 14V. So I would guess the 12V would work but not as long as the 14V. So I would say I should get the 14V ?

Lawn mower solenoids are not rated for continuous duty. As long as your solenoid works 10-16VDC and rated for 100% Continuous Duty, it should be fine. Coil current should be no more than 2 amps.

So if the solenoid just clicks and I got no crank. What could it be. ? Batt -good Test generator-good Cart will start randomly and run fine then it just clicks again. Any thoughts would be much appreciated

If you have intermittent crank, that could be a failing solenoid or brushes in the starter/generator. You will need a volt meter to test for power on both large terminals of the solenoid. I would check the brushes on the starter/generator as well. Those are a consumable item and do require replacement.

If you are referring to the plate just above where the choke cable goes in, you have to drill out the rivets.

I have a similar problem, although I have crank. Replaced the spark plug and fuel filter. It just turns over, with no ignition. Any ideas ?

This could be anything so you need to check a few things. You need to be sure you have spark. Remove a spark plug, connected a spark plug wire and ground the spark plug to something metal on the engine. Crank the engine over and look to see if there is a blueish/white spark. If so, check your cylinder(s) for proper compression. For this, you will need an engine compression tool. Check all cylinders for compression. If compression is reading below 80psi, you need to adjust your valves to .006" (6000ths of an inch) with a feeler gauge. You should have near 120psi of compression. If these all check out, be sure the fuel pump is pumping by removing the fuel line from the carburetor. Crank the engine and see if fuel is coming from the fuel line. If so, you may have a blocked carburetor. It will need to be removed, cleaned and reinstalled.
