2005 GMC Sierra 2500HD - Engine Mount Upgrades!

In today's video - I diagnose a bad engine mount - and replace both of them with an aftermarket polyurethane mount from GPP. These mounts are made with polyurethane and will not rip/tear like the oem mounts do.

Yes the engine + new trans mount made it drive way better. No more weird noises between gear shifts - or letting off the gas.

If you would have taken the intercooler pipe and steering shaft out it would have been so much easier for you

@@bonecrrusherSSwhich way you slid them in or out is what he’s talking about. You can see the f’n bolts lol. Not hard to get bolts out but sliding the driver side in and out is a mf’r and nobody has a video showing anything about it. Just cut from removing bolts to a shot of the busted mount which is totally useless.

Did you notice a lot of noise / vibration added after changing from OEM?

Yes - your are going to get both when getting rid of rubber engine/trans mounts. I got rid of half of the vibration by swapping out the rear cab mounts for the new design. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKilcqhpo8iAZ80

How far can you lift the block up when replacing the mounts. I need to replace my oil pan, but have a 6" lift so the crossmember doesn't come out and it hits the oil pan. I was thinking about just replacing the mounts as well as being able to let me put the PPE oil pan on.

I'm not to sure to be honest - I just lifted the block with the floor jack and replaced both mounts.

I have the same mounts for my truck. You're spot on with the time required. I been working on cars for 23 years and this job was one of the toughest I've done. Definitely plan on 3 hours per side.

Hi, i'm forced to purchase "high-performance" motor mounts for my Dmax, because OEM isn't available anywhere. Now that you've had yours for a while, can you give me some details on how much difference there is in the driving experience. Just want to know what to expect, Thanks.

Motor doesn't move anymore - however you will notice interior noise and vibration from the solid mounts. I replaced the rear cab mounts with the new ones from GM - and that helped reduce some of the noise.

@@bonecrrusherSS I guess what i'm looking for, is "how much" vibration noise. Maybe a scale of 1-10, or a percentage difference from OEM? Is it just a slight difference, or is it "I wish I hadn't done this" kind of different? Lol.

Yes - my mount was completely torn in half.

I reccomend the welded cabinets - had some for 10+ years with no issues. They might be labeled as the "premium" branded ones.

I had to remove my fan shroud. The fan was hard up against it and the power steering and AC pulleys were hard against the shroud. Started making a nasty noise.
