Just did this to my 04 gsxr and it worked!!!! Tips: -Use wire cutters to cut the heads off of the rivets -The position of the loose sprocket DOES matter. I put it in willy-nilly the first time and not only was the engine code still there, it made a nasty grinding sound!!!! -Even if your factory solders look okay, you should still try this. Mine looked perfectly find, just a little browning before I did the fix.

Thanks for the video. I was having some strange issues with idling, throttle response, and power and it turned out the be the STVA after diagnosis. Removed it with the instruction of this video, and added some solder to the clearly detatched existing leads. Fired the bike up and it's back to its old self. Thanks for the tutorial. Ride safe!

A few updates that everyone needs to know on this! I just fixed mine, and you will in fact need to take out the 4 screws on the actual STVA motor. My connections on the outside of my unit were fine, but the 4 connections on the INSIDE needed re-soldering. Also when you are first taking the unit apart, make sure you mark where the gear is. Mine needed to be in the all the way forward position. I am not sure if this will be true for all, but I would assume so. Do this correctly the first time and save the headache of having to do it twice. My bike runs fantastic now. Harbour Freight has a soldering iron for $4 btw ;D Reply to this with any other questions and I'll help as best as I can

@Danny Inwood- no problem man, anything to help out a fellow rider! Again, apologies about the video quality and my filming capabilities. @MRSBA7- I searched high and low to find the specific part, when I called suzuki they told me i'd have to buy the whole throttle body. Its made by Mikiuni, you can try to pull yours out and look at the part number and try to match it, some model kawi's and mitsubishi cars used the same part.

I'm not getting no code but my fast idle doesn't work.. When I turn the key it spins like it's going to work then it turns back. I'm guessing it's the stva thing.. If someone knows please help.. Things would be easier if I was getting a code.. That way I would be sure.

yeah apparently this was a bad year for the gsxr....sounds like the same problem as mine, mine was idling rough when stopped and i had a serious loss of power. if you do the jumper trick and look up the code you can figure out what the issue is....not a hard job at all. Soldering iron works better than a soldering gun, good luck!
@alkhatibziad7239 жыл бұрын
Sorry if this is a stupid question but a lot of pictures and videos aren't super clear in the sense of soldering. Am I soldering 4 points individually, or am I connecting the 2 closest points to each other? Thanks
@greggarton74519 жыл бұрын
You're not connecting either of the prongs to each other. Just simply heat the old solder up (which can provide a temporary fix) or heat it up, remove it, and replace with new solder, the reason it may look like they're connected is because I used a liquid electrical tape and it just stuck to it. Without the solder on there the plug with the 4 prongs will simply fall out of the board. There's no stupid questions here, thanks for watching I hope it helps.
@alkhatibziad7239 жыл бұрын
+Greg Malaka thanks for the quick reply. Alright thanks, I'll just solder each on their own. Maybe you're right, no stupid question just a stupid design on their part :/

having this prblem on my 04 now, went out this morning tostart it and it just cranked and cranked but wouldnt start up, the STVA is making a growling noise so i assume its stuck... the guages arent the right guage for the year so i dont know if it will show a correct code, i jumped it into dealer mode and it shows C00 lolthe bike started for me i went to the gas station and filled it up and it wouldnt start again had to truck it back home now the battery is dead..
@greggarton745110 жыл бұрын
I hope you didn't leave the jumper in the plug lol! I think C00 is what the error code is…its been a while since I've done this but good luck man! if you have any questions feel free to ask on here or PM me. Mine went out while I was cruising down the highway and I couldn't get it above 60mph (and) 5,000rpm while accelerating, it had a growling sound as well.

Will this work for a 2007 gsxr 750.... its showing a c28..... will doing this correct the functionality of the secondary throttle valves that tend to stay open?
@GregMalaka11 жыл бұрын
Possibly….I'm not sure of the specific codes for the 2007 models….chances are they're the same as the 05's but I'd look up the c28 for your model just to be on the safe side. I can't believe how horrible the camera is on this….tried using youtube's "shake fix" feature…..sorry guys.

@HeyMrRager10 жыл бұрын
naw but heres a link to a forum that has a small check list to go through to isolate the problem.. i guess the diagnosis is different for k6 and k7 gsxr's.. so i wouldn't recommend jumping into stva repairs without checking everything out. www.gsxr.com/showthread.php?t=91597

*So this is for the 2004-2005 600's and 750's? -I Ask because the 04' GSXR 1000( K4 ) is a different bike from a 05' GSXR 100(K5) *What year is the bike in the video? Are you sure the 04' and 05' 600's are the same? - above question's reason being why I ask *My bike is a 05' GSXR 1000-Wondering if repair and part are the same. If bike in vid is a 04' It may not be if 600's are like the 1000's and differ from 04' and 05'

I had the C28 and had my bike fixed. Now the secondary throttle valve is always open and the bike runs fine. But is there anybody who knows how to get the red light off? Bypass it somehow or cut a wire?
@jonnybds39 жыл бұрын
If the light is on and its stuck open, it's not fixed
@kenzonderachternaam29469 жыл бұрын
Yes I know it is not fixed properly. The official Suzuki dealership told me that in my case this was impossible. They had experience with racingbikes and for those bikes the secondary throttlevalve is open all time on purpose. On the track you only ride in high revs, which makes it benificial not to have a secondary throttlevalve. I sold the bike btw
@jonnybds39 жыл бұрын
Ken Zonderachternaam I have over 2000 successful repairs that says the dealership was, and is, wrong. And corner exit on the track is where they're most important.

How do you remove the solder
@greggarton745110 жыл бұрын
Just heat it up with a soldering iron or gun and use a paperclip or a solder stripper (handheld tool made to take off solder) and just pull it off and wipe it on a paper towel or wet sponge.
@jonnybds311 жыл бұрын
Your opinion of the error is incorrect. Anyone who tries to repair their STVA in this manner will experience this issue again. For a permanent repair, go to www.STVA-Repair.com.
