I still drive this car to this day. I had this car since high school and bought it used. I put 120,000 miles on it and now I am now at 200,000. I never had an issue with it. Thank you Honda for making a reliable car.

I got my 2005 civic in 2016 but am having problems the the cd player and the speaker and had a few drained batteries but that's really it. Nothing else just from driving the car just issues with people putting the oil cap on the wrong but that's basically it.

Watching this review brought tears to my eyes. My mom purchased her exact same civic (color,trim,year) as the one in this video brand new in December 04'. It's been her favorite car payed off & fell in love with it having it for so many years. We have has so many good memories in this car, and it had always started. It had 168k miles on it. Just last week my mom hydroplaned into the interstate wall, totaled it. She started to cry not caring about herself but her civic.It was a part of our family

I bought mine in 2005. It was my first car. It was stolen in 2012 and found in 2020. Having loved the car as only I had, I went about restoring it to its original condition (if not better). With a new 1.7 D17A engine from Japan, alloys, entire suspension, manual transmission, Ecu, sunroof, DuPont paint, leather seats, radiator, all cables, iridium spark plugs, liquimoly oil change, air box, exhaust system and audio system, nothing feels better than this on the road. It has done 320k km and feels better than ever. As satisfying as an SLR would have felt, given my attachment and liking for this model and its looks. All I need now are the oxygen sensors and interior mirror

The first car I bought myself was a $1,500 2005 Honda Civic SE Canadian Edition, manual transmission. It had 300,800kms on it when I bought it and I sold it at 327,000kms the following year. Definitely one of my favourite vehicles of all time. So simple, so reliable, which is what makes it so satisfying.

Some newer cars feel very disconnected from the road, almost video-game like. Older cars like this with conventional hydraulic power steering give you more road feel and feedback on what the front tires are doing. That's what we mean by the term "organic"

My brother drives a 2003 Civic EX with just over 100k miles. He bought it used last year & for a 10 year old car it feels pretty solid. The ride is nice, the seats are comfortable & it's pretty roomy for a small car. He recently had to have the transmission rebuilt. I just found out that earlier Hondas have transmission problems.

I bought my Honda civic 2005 Ex 5 years ago and I love it. This is the last great generation of Honda civics. It never breaks down, Its amazing on gas/mileage, it doesn't cost me much on insurance and its a great car for the city. Its lower to the road and reacts really well and fast . It's actually fun to drive. However, at 6 foot 2 I wouldn't recommend it for very long drives (more than 2 hours). Other than that, I'm extremely happy with it and plan to keep it until it dies. But if you respect the maintenance requirements you should be keeping it for a very long time.
@thisismysn
@thisismysn 6 жыл бұрын
I'd like to respectfully disagree - the 8th generation Civics are also very reliable. The 7th generation as a whole isn't as reliable because of the failing clutch packs in the 01-03 automatic transmissions.

Mine has 205k on the original trans and still shifts fine and has reverse. Much of the issue was the service manual had the trans fluid change at 120k for normal driving and no replaceable filter. BAD IDEA for those following the manufacturers recommendations. When changed every 30k with Honda OEM ATF or better they last a REALLY long time. Also you can't beat on them all the time either. If you drive conservatively and take good care of it they'll last 200k-300k

I bought a 2004 LX model for $2000 (CAD). 100k at the time of purchase. Other than installing a better audio system and replacing the rear brake bulbs, the car at the time of purchase was in immaculate condition for 100k. No mechanical issues (yet). My car doesn't cost much to fill (20 from mid and ~55-60 from empty) and is quite fuel efficient. I purchased it because of the price and how reliable and maneuverable it is for such a modest and conservative set-up.

I have a 2003 4 dr, damn car is fantastic, with 181 thousand k on her, she drives great and looks like new. my Example was assembled in Canada. The only work I have done to her is change the timing belt and water pump at 140 thousand, the car did not seem to even need it but the research shows that the timing belt should be changed every 100 or so thou k. I only use 100% Synthetic oil and high grade gasoline. Great car, I will not buy anything other then Honda, mine is 10-11 years old and shows no sign of slowing down. Shes amazing in the Canadian winter with good tires and will never leave you at the side of the road.

I will be replacing the starter clutch and possibly the drive belt very soon. Other than that, it has been an amazing little car. It may not have a lot of horsepower or torque (93hp 105torque) but it handles like its on rails going through the windy mountains roads where I live. It always brings I smile to my face.

Great car and I'm with you guys that an EX would be my choice. If I had the money and could find a nice condition EX 5 speed sedan with side airbags than I'd snap it up in a heartbeat. One thing that never made sense was why Honda decided not to offer a 60/40 split fold seat on LX models from 2006 on up.

I've owned my '03 civic lx sport 5 speed manual for 3 years now and it's incredibly reliable and like he says it's a grounded car, likely meaning it came at a point when cars weren't crammed with automatic driving features. Do not go autotragic with this car though. 5 speeds slow enough as it is to be honest. Only thing I'd laugh at is paying 12k for a car like that. 4-5k Max here in Canada

I know how the car will hardly require any repairs, the Civic and CR-V we currently have are like that. I just think it's a lot of money for a 9 year old car, even though it's in great shape. This isn't the dealers fault really, Civic's hold their value like crazy. If I had to get a used Civic, it would be an 8th gen just because I much prefer the styling, over all feel, and the prices aren't much more than the 7th gen Civic. We had a 6th gen, have a 9th gen, and I've spent time with all.

+Jaion Cebollero Sure, it doesn't look up to 2016 standards, but compared to any new 2016 car I've driven, the driving dynamics of this generation Civic surpass them all. Within the first couple seconds of driving you notice how raw and connected everything feels....the steering, the braking, even the gas pedal has this amazing raw feeling. It's not the fastest car but it's still very nimble and makes a great daily driver...compared to all the new cars that have artificial, numb, stale electric steering and throttle along with all the pointless gadgets and gimmicks...I prefer something that's more "get in and drive".

+bokkey45 I just hate how people like to steal these all the time :/ It's the only thing keeping me away from Hondas but other than that I love the way they turn on and the reliability

I've had mine for a couple months now and love it, I have the coupe 5 speed "value package " no bells and whistles lol. However in the first week of owning it I had to replace the headgasket. I did all the work myself however from what I've read the 7th gen civics with the d17 have BAD headgasket problems. When I took the head to the machine shop to get it checked and milled flat he knew exactly what that head came off of since they do the machining for all the honda dealers here in Pittsburgh and said he does around 7 of them a month. So before buying one wouldn't be a bad idea to look for signs of the headgasket starting to go

Really dope car! I have the same exact one in this video and it’s all accurate info. I got my Honda for 5 grand though. At 107k miles. So it would make sense that around 40k would be 10 grand or so.

Don't get the 2001 version , mine had transmission issues, I later on found out majority of the 2001 owners were complaining of the same issues I was having. A google search will shock you

PSA, owning a 2001 Civic was a nightmare. Oil leaks, transmission problems, lighting issues, headliner falling off, AC compressor stopped working, windows regulators all failed except for one, the front speakers stopped working, and cooler leaks. I had to sell it to a junk yard for 250$ .

What makes this one more expensive is the low mileage and outstanding condition. Similar cars with the normal mileage will be well under $10 grand.

I've got an 05 Coupe EX (83k on it) and while I do really like the car it was not made for north america. I've had to replace the muffler after it rusted out and fell off at 70k and had to re-glue much of the interior fabric back on the doors. The rest of the exhaust system is rusting out too and needs replacement and the Al wheels are corroded and don't hold air very well and the car goes no where in snow. Road salt just eats these things alive after time. Other than all that, great car.

I wasn't talking about this Civic, I was talking about Civic's in general. When we were looking at the price for 2-3 year old Civic's, the price was so close to a new one we just got a 2013. New car, we know the history, no surprises. I'm sorry, but I can't see my self spending 10 grand on a 9 year old Civic, no matter how nice it is. We've had 6 Honda's and don't get me wrong we love the resale and reliability, but damn it's tough for the person in the market for the car. Just my $0.02's.

You keep using the word "organic" and I think that is an important point. When I got rid of my beater car that had hydraulic steering and got my first new/modern car, it was a very jarring experience. It felt like I was...playing a video game behind the wheel. I was steering, but it didn't feel like my car was connected to the road. I really hope this is something car manufacturer's work on in the years ahead.
