My brother bought a slightly modded civic after his 93 civic got in a wreck, the guy dropped a short column shifter and stage 2 clutch in it and man that was fun. Best experience I’ve had in a car.

I had an manual LX '01 em2 from brand new. Sold it with the original motor and trans with 350k miles. Only had to change the TPS sensor at 150k miles, one oem clutch at 175k(just in case because of two week road trip), replaced the catalytic converter with a new OEM one at 250k miles, and reman the alternator to brushless. I had a great 14 year run before I was offered a trade I couldn't say no too. Cheers!

I'm using this as a reference for my 05 civic. I can definitely vouch for the Yonaka exhaust, sounds amazing. I would also suggest you get DC Sports headers (don't know if they make them anymore though) if you have the manual transmission.

I've said it before, but I love these quick builds because it feels like it could be a great primer for someone looking to build their first project car. If you swap out PT for a teenager who just got their license in the case of the neighbour wanting to give him a car he was going to scrap, this could easily be someone looking for a video like this to get them started.

With the manifold bolts, thread the bolt back and forth. It will clean the threads and I’ve never broken any seized bolt doing that. I work on diesels and DPFs using that trick. Those things get mega hot.

we have a very very similar story. my dad surprised me with my 04 civic EX for 200$. my dad is a landscaper and we have happened to live near a college. he was mowing a professors yard. the prof approached my dad and asked him if he wanted 200$ for it bc his daughter had bought a newer car. it has 170k miles on it and it’s never had any problems, and it’s completely stock. first mod i plan on doing is adding a dual exhaust tip

on civics the best value for money mods which you should do first is handling get a suspension upgrade, wider and stickier tires+wheels next up should be a sport exhaust but atleast a sport muffler (get a resonator if you opt for a straight through fart pipe)

@@benruether8294 A large exhaust doesn’t hurt power. All the power gains happen at the header, and the rest of the exhaust is for sound and fume control. If the engine had two banks, then you could argue for a scavenging effect.

Love the series so far. I have a few suggestions. 1. I’d love to have a longer rundown on the condition of the car before so like driving it and more commentary on how it feels just so that for someone like me who sees the before and after I can hear your commentary on the difference. 2. Maybe when you are installing some of the changes for the car you can put some more footage on how you did it so I can learn some more about it. Overall great and can’t wait to watch some more.

Idk Dorman makes plenty of products that fix known issues on the oem parts. And their LS truck intake is nearly a direct copy of the fast intake with a 3 bolt throttle body flange instead of the 4 bolt on the fast.

@@MTrefry2 I'm glad it worked out well for you. I wasn't so lucky. I couldn't return it as I had to add 4 inch pipe to make it fit my car. I did return the headers. Yonaka head office is located in my city. They wouldn't accept a return in person. I has to send it back by DHL. The DHL warehouse is on the same road as Yonaka. I had to drive by Yonaka to get to DHL. One other reason why I wasn't impressed.

I used to own a 2004 Em2 1.7l Vtec civic looks exactly the same, although I drove it Europe. Was labeled Honda of America. Such good memories, sad I had to get rid of it due to emission restrictions and not that great fuel mileage.

When I was 17 I put one of these D17 blocks with a D16z6, or Y8 head, i don't remember which. It was hell but it worked. and, you should put the stock air box back in it with just a better filter.

I reweld these manifolds. A rewelded OE catalytic converter will typically last longer than a cheap aftermarket unit. I've seen aftermarket cats fail after a year of normal driving, budget catalysts.

The 7th gen coupes are EM2's lol. But, yes, pretty much anything after 2000 has seen a downgrade in suspension.

I had 05 civic lx, 08 mustang 4.0, I would say the mustang is worse than the civic. So I keep my 06 350z in the end
