Awesome vid! My stock equipment died one day after owning the car for a few years. It died because it wasn't properly grounded and that explains why it would always do strange things. Anyway it's awesome to have bluetooth capability now! Might've been a bad move but instead of acquiring the wire attatchment, I used wire nuts to connect them and zip tied the wires together to keep tension off the wire nuts. It's properly grounded and have had no problems for the past few months. The downside to my method is that if I want to switch it out again, I'll have to undo everything and do it again as opposed to simply unplugging the wire attachment and plugging it into the new one. The upside of course is not having to solder or buy the wire harness. (I was driven to do this because my local autoparts store didn't have the harness I needed in stock)

I have the Atoto A6 installed in an 05 Forester and the stock radio mounts were just slightly to small to encase the A6 without breaking off the bottom part of the stock metal stereo mount bracket and oddly I had to sand down the plastic stock faceplace for the A6 to actually fit through it so it wasn't sunken do deep. Great video, super instructive and thourough.

Thanks for figuring out the dimmer dilemma for me! I’m installing the same head in an 05 forester lol

was it the same process? I got an 05 forester I might install this on also

your video inspired me to do the same to my forester from 2003. Worked out fine! Really really helpful video, also after two years! (I did use a harness, very easy.). Everything worked and fitted at once. Radio reception (FM) is so much better. (My old unit was even older than yours.)

Why did you decide not to use a wiring harness? That would be alot of work to fix or revert back to stock :(

The worst thing about this is the way you can no longer remove the radio without having to cut all those wires. So, if a future mechanic needs to get at the heater core, or to the HVAC actutators, etc, he needs to cut and resolder all those wires, rather than simply unclipping the connector.

Did you connect all 3 of pin 11-red/black ground wire, new stereo-black ground wire, and original-black/yellow ground wire and then ground the 3 of those on the metal bolt?
@iankrahel2 жыл бұрын
It’s much easier than I thought, but for a standard 06 impreza which I assumed would have the same colour wires. It is not u will have to look up on google the pin out
@chrisguzman79262 жыл бұрын
for the ground couldn't you just connect the Two ground cables without connecting it to metal? just curious cause I'm gonna install a head unit on my 05 forester tomorrow and would just like to make sure

Would this work in a 2006 Forester LL Bean with the door mount (A pillar) tweeters? (I attached the tweeters myself and the connection/plugs was already there). Thanks IA

I have an 06 Forester as well. Is the process the same as this one?
@shrimpu Жыл бұрын
@@shaqtinafool_yt1990 So I did a little more digging and found that the tweeters are part of the main audio harness. So this process should be the same for 2006 from what i can see.

How do you make the screen not be so set back, did you have to add washers? Bc my 04 forester is making the radio be very set back

Wiring harnesses to adapt to a car are so cheap. Clipping off the factory harness just makes it super annoying to have to ever swap the radio again.

Much louder than the original because it is pushing more watts. I kept the same speakers so the clarity is the same
