2005 World Armwrestling Federation Championships - Right Arm Finals. Part 2 of 2.
Coming to you from Tokyo, Japan this video has now surfaced from Japanese TV. What is significant about 2005? This was the first year that drug testing was introduced and several positive tests were returned. Yours truly was tested and passed, but you will see a very dominant Artem Klimenko compete in his last WAF Championship. He would fail his test, be stripped of his titles, and this would eventually lead to him leaving the sport. The “next John Brzenk” became a footnote in armwrestling history.
You also get to see me get whooped in the finals by August (Gustl) Smisl, although this was a great event for me overall having defeated Tim Bresnan on the way to the finals and taking two silver medals. With the left arm I may have been the victim of the TV cameras having actually flop wrist and pulled August to the pin where we slipped. Under WAF rules that should have been World Title number 3 (having pinned him earlier in the event) but the referees let it go to the straps where I was defeated.
