I'm having issues with my 06 azera now where the key goes in and turns over to acc mode then sticks there and won't go any further. It is a problem only half the time and the other half it starts just fine. In your opinion would changing this part fix that? Thanks for any input

Try lubricating with WD-40 or silicon spray and see if it reduces the occurrences.

Hi Deepak, I couldn't find this on ebay anymore. I remember it was definitely listed there at that time. But you can search google for Hyundai Kia Rekey Kit and make sure the kit covers your car model. Something like this www.americankeysupply.com/product/hyundai-kia-combination-keying-kit-asp-11146. But I am sure, if you are looking hard enough, you can find that for cheaper.

What's the relationship between the code label p0050 on car keys and the immobilizer password? Will a new keys with same key label code will have the same immobilizer password?? What's the correlation?
@AllHandsMechanic3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, I don't have the answer to that. I would suggest you call a local locksmith or dealership to find out.
@knx74052 жыл бұрын
Automotive locksmith here. Not necessarily, the key code just retrieves the cuts for the physical key. The programming PIN allows programming for the key's transponder. There's not any correlation between the two, but if you run the VIN with Vinlock you get both at the same time. Worth mentioning, sometimes a transponder programmer can convert VIN to programming PIN, but this never yields a key code also.

@@mwats4929 I feel you, if you are skeptical of the key may fail on you down the line or mess up the tumblers again. You can go two routes: a) Expensive Route: Get the new key cut n programmed by a locksmith, and keep the old key as a backup only. b) Cost-effective Route: Go to your local hardware store, get the regular metal key cut as per your existing key. Put both keys in the same key chain, this way, you are using the new metal key to physically unlock the cylinder and the old key (with transponder) to unlock the car electronics.

It’s been a long time since I worked on that car. I don’t remember everything, so take my words with grain of salt, bu I don’t think, you will be able to pull out the cylinder with your steering wheel locked. Find ways to unlock the steering wheel and get to accessory mode to be able to pull out the lock cylinder out.

Well if your only key is damaged, and you don't have a spare key, that means yes you have to buy a new key of the same type (with code p0050), get it cut and programmed by a local locksmith. If you are in the United States, check with Ace Hardware, now they do it too for a very less price. You can go two routes: a) Expensive Route: Get the new key cut n programmed by a locksmith, and keep the old key as a backup only for unlocking the car. b) Cost-effective Route: Go to your local hardware store, get the regular metal key cut as per your existing key. Put both keys in the same key chain, this way, you are using the new metal key to physically unlock the cylinder and the old key (with transponder) to unlock the car electronics. No programming of the new key is needed here.

What's your vehicle year make and model? I think you are talking about Immobilizer PIN code. It stays the same for the vehicle, it doesn't change with the key. When your new key gets programmed, it will be written to the transponder of the new key. Maybe some reading here will help you understand, how the car Immobilizer and key transponder works together and what key programming does. www.diagwiki.com/key-coding-information
