Not sure but please find a new shop. Those guys clearly don’t know what they’re doing.

Was this a compressor only change and if so is it still running strong. Pep boys says if I don’t replace it all I’ll have to do it again in a few short months and I’d be fine with a few months because it’s summer here in az and it’s 117 today

Just compressor. Have an ac shop vacuum out the system for 15-20 mins and then charge it to the correct level. Please don’t use that can stuff from the part store. Go to an actual shop.

If the air doesn’t work now, chances are the Freon has leaked out. Proper procedure would be to vacuum the system first, replace the compressor then charge the system.

Thanks for the video. Did you reuse the o rings for your high and low pressure lines to the compressor or did it not have any?

I would strongly advise you to bring it to an AC shop and have them pull a vacuum to check for leaks and to recover whatever might be left in the system and then have them charge it to the appropriate Freon levels if it passes the leak test.

@HelpingHandAutoRepair
@HelpingHandAutoRepair 2 жыл бұрын
If you have the correct torx socket, simply get a longer handle to give you leverage to break them free. Alternatively, you may be able to buy these ac port studs at the parts store but I never have (I just transfer them over) so I am not sure if that’s possible.

Hi, Do i have to change the condenser? Many of the AC manufacturers recommend changing it? Also did you flush the system from the oil?

AMALIO CALDERON It is recommended to do so however auto repair shops won’t do this. They will just replace the compressor. Unless there was some other catastrophic failure.

I don’t recall. It was some time ago and this is a customer’s car. I don’t have an ac machine myself. I just handed it off to my buddy who owns a mechanic shop. I let them use their machine to figure out all that information. Most systems don’t require much oil but you would have to find out that information from the manufacturer of the compressor.

Yes. Most are shipped with the correct amount of oil in them already. However if you aren’t sure, take it to an AC shop and have them use their machine to put the correct amount in when they recharge the system.

I'm about to replace the compressor on my Dakota 2007 on Sunday hopefully. I got a used compressor from LKQ which had only 45k miles on it, so hopefully it will last awhile. The guy at autozone told me they have freon mixed with oil. Do you think it is a good idea to use that or just oil the compressor and then add regular freon? Thank you

@HelpingHandAutoRepair
@HelpingHandAutoRepair 5 жыл бұрын
Rami Aqrabawi You will want to use PAG 46 oil. In most cases you will End up using 1.5 to 2 OUNCES of oil. Nothing more. There may be a sticker in the engine bay that will specify how much oil to add but if there isn’t then 2 OUNCES or slightly less will work fine.
