There's a not-too-well known issue with the Aston Martin Vantage where the gas struts for the trunk lid attach to the body of the car. This explains the fix.

Same problem here on my 2006 AMV8. Great video, thanks! FYI at 2:07 the part numbers are missing the "C". Should be 6G33-C393005-AA. 47 Euro + VAT each in Holland.

Hey! Thank you so much for the video! I just found this on my 2006! Parts for both sides ordered just in case.

This is a great explanation of the problem and how to solve. Just a quick note, seal the new plate when you fit it as I had a water leak which wasn't found for a while as other areas were looked at first. Thanks again.

Great video, is there a similar part # for the 2008 roadster? The lower attachment of the trunk strut seems to be different than the coupe. any info would be appreciated.

I just checked astonmartinbits.com and they only list the parts I mentioned in the video. I’m not familiar with the roadster setup. Sorry.

Question? How do you access the grren plate to be able to glued back. Which parts and trim do you have to remove to access it. Thanks

The “green” plate (green only for illustration purposes) should be attached to the ball joint. There’s really nothing to remove to expose this area as the gas strut is attached to the ball joint. Hope that answers your question.

Thanks let me ask the question differently. How were you able to access the car body panel from the back to be able to glue the green plate to the body. Thanks Again

I did not think to seal the parts as I assumed the entire area was in the inside/dry area of the car. Living in the desert biased my concerns, no doubt. In retrospect, if I had such forethought, I might have injected the area with a silicone sealant before tightening the ball joints down. Sorry.
