I have a 3.6 with a full cat removal definitely best sounding v6 once done up

the 3.9 is an upgraded 3.1 v6...... the 3.1 is an upgraded 2.8 all these engines will rev to 7000 RPM..... guaranteed by GM (so probably 7500+ before parts fly out the block) however..... the 3.1 starts to loose power around 5800 rpm....valve float... and shifts at 6200 the 3.1 makes 160hp and 190 foot pounds..... after 99, they made the intake ports larger..... added 15hp and 10 foot pounds now the 3.9 is a bored and stroked 3.1...... but the variable length intake and valve timing are what REALLY make the 3.9 scream 240hp..... and 240 foot pounds from 2000rpm till near red line knowing GM.... and how the underrate their motors.... and looking at crank VS "net" power.... probably makes close to 320hp at the crank and a 60 degree v6 will ALWAYS sound good exhaust is just a buzz..... AKA.... buzzing half dozen but the intake noise in my 99 Buick century with the 3.1 IS. AMAZING. it its 4200 rpm.... and the power kicks in like a 2 stroke nothing..... nothing.... 4200rpm...BA- WAAAAAAAA literally like a light switch..... like i hit a 100 shot of NOS the intake and VVT on the 3.9 fixed that...... which is kinda sad..... that "light switch effect" makes my slow ass buick fun to drive but ill take power EVERYWHERE over a huge "kick" at 4200 my sister hit a deer in her 07 impala 3.9.....totaled the car out but that 3.9 is a DROP. IN. FIT!!! all i need to do is swap wiring harnesses and computers...... motor mounts and engine size are THE SAME!!! 240+ STOCK!!!! hp in a 3200 pound car..... YES PLEASE!!!

"The LX9 3500 (AKA 3.9) is an OHV engine based on the 3400 V6 (aka, 2.8 / 3.1) 2.8, 3.1, and 3.4 are THE SAME..... only bore size and crank stroke are different 3.5 and 3.9 are the same....again, with only bore and stroke changes like.... have you ever worked on a 3.1 and a 3.9? they have A LOT of shit in common (again.... LIKE THE FUCKING BLOCK)

No shit Sherlock, the 3.6 has more hp more tq a 6speed over a 4speed and vvt as well as direct injection, the 3.9 had none of that
