@@tiino4690 yep, They didn't put a 3.6 dohc into them until 2012. Before that they were pushrod v6. You can tell by the oil pan as well.

@Skip R agreed, it's the 3.5, the other 2 are 3.6 though, you can tell by the rev limiter and sound.. the only 2 V6 motors gm has that sounds good is the 3.6 and the 4.3 vortec. Borla has a good exhaust for the 3.6 that's worth the money.

I think the Flowmaster Super 10’s sounded the best out of the 3. But.. it could’ve sounded better if it was pointing out of the rear instead of down. But, it was better sounding out of the 3. Anyone think that the Straight-Piped Impala sounded better than the Muffler delete Impala? That Muffler delete Impala sounded rough as hell.

The straight pipe Impala had a 3.4 or 3.8 V6 (pushrods) and the other two had the completely different 3.6 V6 OHC with variable cam timing

@@jonathanryan2915 The first one was the older 9th gen. They came with either a 3.5 with 210hp and 3.9 with 240hp, both 2 valves per cylinder, OHV (Over Head Valve, or "pushrod"). There was also a 5.3 V8 with 300hp. The one you see here is the 3.5. The later 9th gen after 2012 all came with only one engine, the 3.6 with 306hp, which is a DOHC (Dual Over Head Cam), 4 valve per cylinder, direct injection engine. All these engines have variable valve timing (not 100% sure with the V8).

Right the only one I think that sounded ok was the last one. I have an 08 SS with the 5.3 I want him to do the exhaust on it and my 02 grand marquis with a 03 front end so be on the lookout on here for it.

The 3.5 engine for some odd reason sounds better with different exhausts. Ive heard straight piped, muffler deletes, and flowmasters on the 3.5 and man it sounds like v8s sometimes even gives that throat sound with no rattle like these smh my 2012 impala doesnt sound like a ricer but dont sound like a v8 either. BUT the 2012 impalas and up have more power so theres pros and cons

Well you have a pushrod V6 and they're known for sounding very much like an I4 without the rasp or a lawnmower lol Stock is the best sound. Very next best thing would be a chambered silent flow muffler. Flowmaster, Magnaflow, and Summit Racing will all have a silent muffler you can have welded on. I think police cars are coolest with a stealthy look and sound. I'm actually about to pick up a 2012 Impala 9C1 tomorrow which is why I'm on this video XD

Thats what i did, it looked like a rust bucket, so i did a muffler delete for 100 and got a cool chrome exhaust tip for 70 it looks way better and i didnt expect it to sound as good as it does now i have the 08 ls impala

It's a completely different engine. That's an old 3.5 pushrod V6 with 210HP in the LS and some LT models. The 3.9 in the LTZ was the same, but with 240HP. The 3.6 is a DOHC, direct injection, VVT with 306HP. completely different engine design. it can be found in all models from 2012 to the current Impalas.

@Skip R They probably make much less than that. I saw one on a dyno. 200hp at the wheels and only 190ft-lb. Granted it was over 100,000 miles. Mine has 70,000. While it feels rather slow in city, once it picks up it's pretty decent.
