2006 Chrysler 300c 5.7 Hemi / ECM Code Fix / Code U0100 / Stalling Fix / PART 2 (UPDATE)

* This is an update following a previous video uploaded on KZbin.
After changing many parts to my car, and countless hours of looking for a solution. I have finally located the issue that causes my vehicle stalling ( 06 Chrysler 300c 5.7 Hemi ).
Check your wiring harness! This may not be the solution for you, but it was for me!

This fixed my u0100 and p0700 code. I don’t have anymore check engine light. The car does not stall after moving the wires, I have not permanently fixed the issue yet.

Just an update! It’s about to be one full year. I still haven’t permanently fixed the wiring issue. Although I have NOT moved the ECM since and the car has been running great this whole time! 10/26/2023

Mine has been stalling like crazy and driving me crazy!! Just moved the pcm like yours and it did not stall.... Fingers crossed that this works to at least understand what wires might be faulting out!

@@tbaker122I recently had someone comment that the issue was the red (positive) wire next to the ECM. The red wire was partially cut and was shorting out due to touching metal (negative) somewhere by the ECM. That makes perfect sense to me for my vehicle, I just haven’t really taken the time to look at the wires. I didn’t want to touch them again

I got a 2006 300 with he 5.7 and my car was doing the same thing, with the same codes p0700 code and the u0100 code and I moved the ecm and now the car runs perfect, thanks for the video bro

Thanks for the video. You did a lot of work to get to the solution. I am also getting the codes, u0100 and p0700 code in a 2006 Charger SRT8. Your symptoms sounds exactly like mine. I am going to to removing the unplug the connections, cleaning them, and then zip-tying the wires in place. I will give an update after. Your symptoms sounds exactly like mine.

I have not figured it out yet. Just haven't had the courage. Electronics scare me. LOL The car stalls a lot now so I parked it. After it stalls, it wont go into gear unless I come to a complete stop, put it in park, shut it off, wait a second or so, then restart it and then I can get her to move. Also, I could drive for miles, then after it stalls I smell hot, melting plastic. I love that car and its killing me. I'll bite the bullet and get after it soon. Thanks for asking. @@benjiman1216

I took The Charger to Freedom Dodge in Sherman TX. They gave ne a $13,000 estimate. HA! I paid the diagnostic charge (about $200). They said the stalling was the throttle body. I have one on order now, $13K They Crazy!!!!

Big thanks to you bro!! I've been having the same problem for months. I tried what you did and it's fixed!! Must be a loose connection but I'm not bothering with it for a bit. Did you ever get yours fixed properly? If so where was the loose connection exactly?

Hey brother, glad to hear that you found your problem! To be completely honest lol. I have not permanently fixed the issue. My ECM is in the same exact spot that I’ve moved it to and it’s been running perfect since. I just haven’t taken the time to get it fixed by a mechanic.

It's funny I was popping it into neutral revving the motor at every stop sign/red light. That was stopping it from stalling out most the time. What a nightmare

3 hours in (highway,Street) PERFECT!…..car wasn’t able to go WOT for years…….haven’t been able to redline or get it tuned because of the issue and I did what you did and it’s 100% so far

I’ll keep that in mind to try this out I’ve moved the wiring before but it’s bipolar the car stalls randomly I’ve changed literally everything and the dealer doesn’t know what the problem is lol that is true though once you move it around it won’t stall I think Chrysler messed up with the location of the pcm they’re so many people with this issue and nobody can find a solution

You can try to wait until it’s dark outside. Start the car, and see if you can see any sparks coming from the wiring harness next to the computer. Maybe you’ll see something ..? I hope you get it all figured out. I worked hard on my car for months until I found out the problem

I had the same problem and the thick red wire to the right of where the pcm sits was grounding out on the metal hose and I put electrical tape and haven’t had a problem since

What did you have them print out for you at Auto Zone? I just left there today and I didn’t even know they could print that out for you.

Hey, I received the paper from autozone when I purchased the ECM. It came together in the box. My issue was bad wiring next to the ECM shown in the video. My vehicle has been running good for over 300 HOURS now.

I’m honestly not even sure. I’m assuming if it’s a single wire that is damage/corroded, that that single wire itself can be fixed. Just splice the wire and fix wherever it’s needed.

I swear to you, I was losing hope after countless hours of replacing parts. Taking the car to my mechanic. Wondering what could possibly be the issue?? I decided to unbolt the ECM and move it around, it seems to be a faulty wire right there. Give it a try! If it doesn’t work the first time, wiggle the wires around a few more times and see what happens.

Hello, Benji. I'm wondering if the PCM located in that position is being stressed by the contact with the hood. I did the same but noticed that even though the hood closes, it puts some pressure against the PCM.

Hey Alberto, after moving my PCM to the new location. My car has been running perfect for several months! I still have not permanently fixed the issue and the car has been great. I’d suggest anyone having similar issues to move their pcm to where mine is.

My car would stall randomly as well. Usually when I come to a stop at a light or stop sign the car will shut off. I think putting my car in park and put my foot on the gas kept my car on.

I’m having the same issue with my dodge magnum srt8 2006 currently I hope this helps me I’ve invested money and time already in this car it’s so fun but it keeps turning off so currently it isn’t fun lol wish me luckkkk !!!! As far as I remember, majority of the lights on my dash would flicker when the car would jerk all at the same time. Some type of electrical problem. The car would stall out on me when I was at a stop. 🛑 I had to put the car in N/P and give it gas just to keep the engine running. I haven’t had any major problems since I moved the wires as shown in the video. I still haven’t permanently fixed the issue. It’s rare, but the car has slightly jerked on me since. I just simply jiggle the wires next to the ECM again and I’m good on the road.

I’m not sure which of the 3 plugs has the bad wire. I haven’t actually fixed the issue yet, just moved the wires and pcm around to temporarily fix the stalling. The car still hasn’t turned off. It’s been running great

I only had a problem with my gears shifting when the car would shut off. I would turn the car back on while in park, and it wouldn’t shift into drive/reverse. The car would also jerk and the rpm would jump. All with flashing lights on my left side of the dash. After moving my wires around by the ECM, all of my issues went away. No more codes, the car has been running perfectly! I need to permanently fix the wires

I didn’t use anything to secure it down. The ECM holds its place pretty well in the location I’ve put it. My car has still been running great 👍 I haven’t touched the ECM since I’ve made this video

⁠mine does the same thing and changed the torque converter and still 😩😩 turns off 3 times daily and has a rought shudder when the mds turns on... Changed ecm (2 times)tcm,e throttle control, camshaft crank shaft,motor mounts(partially felt like the shudder got fixed but its still there) egr,replaced the intake manifold(cleaned it)gasket,😮battery,altirnator,gas pedal,gas pump,added a filter on the gas fines return line(I hear it fixes the gas tank issue for stalling),oil pressure switch,spark plugs,oil (I heard it's delicate cause of the mds) 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀 I seen so many videos people replacing their ecm but I feel it's the wire harness and when people move the ecm to replace it they temporarily fix it and think that was the issue

I had someone mention it being the red wire next to the ECM. The red positive wire was partially torn and touching some metal. That’s why when moving the ECM around it moved the red wire to a safe position. I haven’t checked it out to confirm or deny this issue, thought I’d just let you know. The guy just taped the red wire with electrical tape and fixed his issue.

@@benjiman1216 I want to thank you 🙌🏽🙌🏽 I was under the suspicion it was the wire harness on that area cause just like you every time I fiddled In that area including when I replaced the ecm twice it would work for a day or 2 then back to stalling and rough tranny!! Then after 1 year today I was like let me look at youtube see if there's any reviews on new tools out here to test for open or shorted wires other than a dmm and jyst by chance I seen your video 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽😃😃 And you described my exact senerio!! So I did what you said this afternoon and so far the stalling stopped!! Thanks brotha If this is the issue I have a couple of ideas to get it fixed including looking into the red wire or replacing the harness plugs and share it with you. Also if this is the fix it's really messed up how chrysler has allowed all of us to drive in these dangerous condition spending $1000s looking for a ghost that they should have found since its so common and not to mention how many people have replaced the ecm including myself thinking they fixed it.

@@benjiman1216 yes I'll get back to you with the findings 🙌🏽 I'm an electronic Engineer and couldn't find this issue for about a year and a half and $2k in parts 😩 but now all those parts are new that had over 150k so I'm OK with it lol I did drive it this morning and no stalling when it use to at least 3 times daily. I did something similar with the tie wraps but created a metal bracket to squeeze the connectors down and placed it back in it's place but it stalled again so I took it off put it back on the outside top and it stopped stalling again. 🤣🤣 so I just left it there for now lol this has been 1 and half giving me this headache that I need a couple months of no trouble shooting lol

@@AJ2SAV062 correct. All I did was place the pcm on a new location. After moving the pcm, the wires got a better connection.. To be honest, I’m not sure where you can order the harness. Yes I still have my chysler 300. The car still running great! I haven’t touched the pcm since I made this video

Try moving the ECM around like I did. Check to make sure you have no vacuum leaks. Maybe check your auto shit down relay. There’s a bunch of possibilities it can be! Just don’t give up, I didn’t. My issue was the harness by the ECM

If you’re having similar issues. I would suggest moving the wires a few times until your 100% sure that your problem is there or not. It took me a few days of moving the wires to actually realize that the ECM harness has a bad connection somewhere.

Dang I’m sorry brother. Try checking your auto shut off relay. I had to move my ECM for it to work properly. Haven’t had any major issues since still to this day. Very rarely it’ll have a small jerk to the car while driving. I just hop out and lightly wiggle the wires around and she runs good

My ECM cost around $300 after I turned in a core. You can also search online. Just make sure the ECM is already programmed for your vehicle // or if you know someone that can program ECM

Mine don’t stall out but all the lights come on and gauges quit ?? So if you tap on the ecm .. your problem is internal. .. I imagine mine is too
