This series had a lot of amazing redemptive qualities to it. Gary Payton and Shaq got to run it back and avenged their 2004 finals loss against the Pistons! And they get to brag that they beat the pistons while the Pistons core was still intact and still in their prime! Shaq looks like he got himself in shape and shot 69% in this series! Makes a huge difference when your shooting guard actually passes the ball to you. And then in the finals, Payton, Alonzo Mourning, Antoine walker, and Jason Williams all finally won a championship. None more deserving than Mourning and Payton.

='| yeah that year was just all dysfunctional for the lakers. If they could have just played ball together they should have won. Then again they played a slow game of basketball and were down a pf. With a crap bench. This Miami team ran Detroit down.

Shaq knew he was declining at this point so smart move letting his ego go and handing the 🔑 to Wade.This team was actually old which explains why they couldn't repeat

Miami Heat headed to the NBA finals for the first time in their history, along with the Dallas Mavericks, who'd made their first NBA finals, and the Miami Heat went on to win the NBA title a few weeks later?

Pistons fan here, kudos to Miami. They played like they wanted it more, and our offense was painful to watch at times, despite how great our defense was

Shaquille O'Neal is living large in his life with 3 nba titles and looking for more,U.D. and dwade is from the 2003 nba draft,dwade is a hometown hero from Chicago,Gary Payton the glove is a 13xall star has come up empty in his last 2 nba finals apps and trying to get back to it,and now he's a role player Antonie Walker won the ncaa title with Kentucky in 96,2x nba defensive player of the year Alonzo Mourning aka ZO who had a life with kidney disease and survivor,and Pat Riley was coached with these showtime LA Lakers with championship rings?

Don't forget Jwill who was seen as someone earlier who could never lead a team to a championship. He was too out of control in Sacramento and Memphis.

It boggles my mind that Shaq isn’t the all time leading scorer. I mean by just watching him you can see that he’s nearly impossible to stop. Get him the ball and he’s almost automatic

If he stayed in shape and didn't brick so many free throws he could've passed Kareem in scoring.

After the 2005-06 season:4x nba defensive player of the year Ben Wallace was traded and signed up with the Chicago Bulls in the off-season,the Pistons got Nazr Mohammed early on,and in the middle of the season they got Chris Webber,so CWEBB starting in the power forward position and Rasheed Wallace moved in the center position?

The zone defense of Saunders was weak vs the Heat, and especially Dwayne Wade... Fired Larry Brown was a Mistake. The light was on Shaq and Wade, but don't forget Williams, Haslem, Walker, Posey, Payton, Mourning... Shaq was criticized this season 2006, he reserved for the playoffs, 28 points 16 rebounds, 5 blocks in this game 6.

Flip Saunders costed this game by sitting Ben Wallace the whole 4th quarter. Which is why, Ben leaves Pistons afterwards of Coach stupidity.
@mr.pointman19303 жыл бұрын
But, it doesn't matter as Pistons fate is already sealed after hired Flip Saunders to coached. Ultimately, dismember the whole squad at the starts of 2008-09 season.

Mr. Pointman I guess because they were down already and weren't getting stops, so he probably felt that he needed more of a offensive line up.

In 1997 nba finals game 5 it was tied up at 2 wins apiece:MJ is suffering from the flu like symptoms vs Utah Jazz,he didn't get out of bed till the afternoon around 3,he'd played all 44 minutes and finished the game with 38 points,including a dagger 3 to given the bulls a 3-2 lead,and wind up getting 39 points in GM 6 win
