I had nothing on the ac panel. No lights, fan wasn't kicking on. I watched your video. Went out and pulled and tested a the fuses and the relay, plugged it back in. Tapped on if a few time for good luck and BAMO! Cold air again in the heart of TX! Tanks man!

No, it did not. I believe there is a computer issue with it. After many tries I took it to a shop and they couldn't figure it out either. My son left from Colorado to South Carolina and he said it would work if they had high humidity. I could jump 12v to the fuse and it would engage the clutch on the compressor and blow cold air. He has since been deployed to Japan and the car is sitting in S. Carolina. Good luck!

I have a 2007 Lincoln Town Car that the A/C system stopped working immediately after I changed the valve cover gaskets. I have ran tests on all the A/C fuses, relays, and high low pressure switches only to have found they're all good. The A/C system is fully charged without any leaks. However, I am not getting the PCM to ground at the A/C clutch relay. I think the PCM thinks the engine is either overheating or the outside temperature is too cold to turn on the A/C because the cooling fan will not turn on high at all and the cooling fan is only a few months old bought from a Ford dealer with the cooling fan module attached. Any ideas what can cause this or what I may have forgotten to plug back in? Everything else works except the A/C.

I have a 2008 crow vic p71. Replaced ac compressor pulled vacuum, but no joy. Clutch will not engage... checked fuses and relay good. You mentioned if no refrigerant clutch will not engage ... how do you by pass this to get refrigerant in?

First I lost power to my control panel as well as the direction indicator on the mirror, next the ac compressor went out so we put in a bypass pulley. Still no power to either item. I’m going to recheck the interior fuses and the ones under the hood plus the relay… anything else I should check. I went to oriellys to have the codes read last week and they couldn’t get the code reader to communicate with the computer in the car. I’m at my wits end with this car and it’s only getting colder here in northern Minnesota. Any help is appreciated!

I've got a super weird problem with my AC. It was running just fine the other day, but yesterday my car overheated and the ac wasn't working. I tested the thermostat and found it was bad so I replaced it. The overheating problem is fixed, but the ac isn't working right. At an ambient temperature of 97 degrees, the AC blows at 95 degrees. For reference, the vent setting blows at 105 degrees. Also the AC lines are not getting cold at all.

Also I believe the a/c and or Max A/c setting wire harness goes to the low pressure switch and from that switch to the PCM that is how the PCM knows that you asked for A/C then the PCM will ground the control side of the clutch relay.

3:51 is it common for that pressure sensor to go bad? If it needs replacing, does the AC system need to be evacuated?

No. Just back it out and put a new switch in. When you take the old sensor out, it will self seal.

Great video, well explained. Keep ford videos coming, 03-20 vehicles preferably! I do have a current issue with my marauder. A/clutch engages but blower motor wont turn on. All fuses under dash good. Any suggestions??

I would check the connector to the blower motor (somewhere underneath the glove box) for burnt pins or corrosion. You can also tap on the blower motor and check to see if its getting power and ground

Will it work without the diode? I got my car back from the shop for a brake job and my AC which used to be cold enough to freeze a steak is now blowing hot air, and I checked everything and noticed the diode is missing 🤔 maybe some scumbag mechanic has sticky fingers?

@@LehewTech fixed the misfire but still don't work but now I can get it working if I bypass the relay but it doesn't if I swap with a good known relay🤔

I have a 2010 crown vic. The ac worked when I first got the car. It suddenly quit working shortly thereafter. My compressor is working and clutching. I replaced the smaller black relay. I replaced the diode and checked the other 2 15 amp fuses which are fine. I've also recharged the system to be certain there was enough refrigerant and the accumulator appears to be in good condition. Still blowing hot. Any suggestions? If the large gray relay is bad would everything still work?

If the compressor is engaging that begs the question: are the ac lines by the firewall getting cold? If so, and you have heat coming out and not AC, the blend door may be stuck in the hot position

How common is it that the PCM goes bad? I’ve got good charge, switches, fuses, relay, compressor, and clutch, yet I still am not receiving a ground signal to the compressor relay. The AC works for ~5-7 seconds and then stops blowing cold. (2003 Marauder)

I may have the same problem , a shop just diagnosed a bad pcm , my ac doesn’t work at all but it fixed itself for like a trip to McDonald’s and quit again

@@keenankircher7492 a friend of mine basically bypassed the PCM signal to the compressor clutch. IDFK how he did it now since I sold it about a year ago, but he basically wired the pressure switches to the signal wire to the CCM and then independent ground for the switches as well. Worked great for a long time but I have no idea what the long term ramifications are of that.

Great info. I've got a 2003 and the A/C cools great but after I've been driving and shut it down it does not want to come back on or there is a long delay (5-10min) before the A/C clutch will engage.I was working on checking all of the switches to see if any of those needed replacing including a WOT Cutout switch which I'm told i have yet nobody knows where or how it works. I've got refrigerant so i don't think the powertrain module would be preventing it from engaging and it's not overcharged. Any suggestions what else i can check?

BTW, I also checked the relay by both tapping and swapping but that wasn't the issue. It's also a CNG car which i don't think matters.

Yessir! First few things I would check is if the check engine light is on, if there are any stored trouble codes, if the coolant level is good and if the engine overheats at all. If all those things check out there are a few likely problems that come to mind. Relays are more likely to fail as they heat up. You could try swapping the relay when this problem is occurring. There could also be a problem with the clutch on the ac compressor where it fails to lock up when it gets hot. If the clutch is receiving power but not engaging then it needs to be replaced. @@LehewTech Thanks. A/C clutch seems to work great, and when i say hot i don't mean hot to the touch, I'm talking 80° plus outside. Refrigerant levels are good as well. I grounded the lead that comes from PCM and the A/C kick on which tells me the PCM is having an issue. The car has only been running for a few minutes so it's not overheating, could it be a bad temp sensor that falsely telling the PCM the car is overheating?? There is also the High Pressure switch on the A/C High Side but that has 3 wires and I cannot find a schematic showing which wire is which. Thanks for your response and if you have anymore input regarding this new information I'm all ears.

My o4 s fuse box is not laid out like that. My speedo oil pressure gauge. And compressor stopped at the same time My oil pressure gauge has been messing up a while. Did not lay All the way down and stay there until today. Ac did work . A few days before. This one will take some troubleshooting my diode is there but no other diodes next to it I know how to check a diode and it should take current one way this one is not
