@hendo3373 жыл бұрын
You sound like a legend as well sir. Back in 2014 I switched from Ford Modulars(4.6 2V/3V and 5.0 Coyotes) to LSs and I wanted to learn how to do a budget build and China turbos. Friends recommended Sloppy Mechanics to me. I was totally green. Mop Handle gave me the confidence, the basic part recipes and the tune cabinet too do anything I could dream up. I still haven't done a turbo. (I have a rclb 2wd 2003 Silverado 2500 6L 80e ear marked for that once I learn how to rebuild the 4L80e from Cameron Powers up in Clarksville, TN) I did use a SS2, Pac1218, China long tubes, 160tstat, TR6s, Z06 clutch, Mishimoto rad+silicon hoses, tune, ect. On my 2004 GTO 6m, it was an absolute joy to drive before I siezed the shortblock. Now I am putting together an LQ4 with 706s, TBSS intake, China 92mm, Elgin 238/242, Howard's spring package, timing chain, cometic 0.027" headgaskets, flex fuel, 255lph, VCM otr, 25% UDP and I am going through the T-56. I would just boost the car but I know that the trans, driveshaft and axle would never take the power. I have a rclb 2wd 1997 F250HD 351w(roller) ZF-5 S47 that I plan to try the sloppy recipe on as well. ON3 sells a 351w swap fox turbo kit for $1600 I'd like to try on it along with a cam+springs, cheapo aluminum heads, a Holley Hi-Ram and Terminator efi. Plan to build a long travel twin I-beam 2wd "Prerunner" style truck. The Silverado will be lowered on 20" LTZ replicas and copy Matt's truck. This is truly a one of a kind community that is on the fringes of the "boomer rodders" and we really get under their skin.

During the description of teenagers in high school striving for a way to prove their autonomy by exercising their ability to buy their first car.. All I could think is what a shame it is that so many people never escape that mentality, and seem to exist in a continuous state of needing to prove their autonomy to everyone around them.
@William-Morey-Baker3 жыл бұрын
... sadder still, society all but guarantees a lot of people will never have autonomy, or ever actually be self sufficient, let alone own a house or their own property. I don't think we're talking about the same thing necessarily, but at the same time, there's cross over... 51% of young adults, 18-25, currently report feeling depressed or hopeless about the future, and it's not just the last year or two that's caused that... And it's not just Americans. World wide, it's a real issue... 25% have considered suicide, and its the leading cause of death in that demographic. It's a shame people have their self worth tied up in what they own or what they can achieve... because at this rate nobody will be able to afford anything, and most people will never have a career that actually leaves them feeling accomplished... People get stuck in the highschool mentality because that's the last time they had a purpose and actually felt like they were being acknowledged by society... After that, most of them enter the hellscape that is the modern labor force... With less to show for it than any past generation and a shorter life expectancy than their parents... Not that it's a good or remotely healthy mentality to get stuck in... It's just understandable... American society has become nothing more than consumer culture, people are what they own, or so they're told... Over and over again all their lives

Me staying 6 feet away and touching all the same items as eveyrone else, isn't helping the old ladys who go through the store with their riot shield face guard. The at risk should either lock themselves up, take the risk of going outside, or get the jab if they feel like it. Freedoms of choice is what life is based on. I feel worlds just shit in the fact that i can do good, i can work hard i can show up, do GOOD work, get paid shitty, meanwhile there can be a local pothead, drunk, young kid, who can do a fairly easy job, and get paid far more than me who took a course and had quite a bit of money tied into it all. This is the first time I opened KZbin, excited to see what the Monday RCR upload would be, and audibly groaned in disappointment at the title. I know the channel isn't anymore about "regular" cars, rather "regular reviews" about cars, but this strays so far from where I fell in love with RCR. RCR, your strengths are telling the story of why an OEM built a car and why a consumer bought it. Modified stuff is so niche, so user-dependent, and also done all over the place on KZbin. I know the allure, here, is Nick and Brian's take on a modified car, but the allure of RCR as a channel is learning about the cars that Jeremy Clarkson and Matt Farah don't write about. This is also the first time I've felt strongly enough about the direction of RCR content to write a dumb comment on KZbin. I'm leaving this dumb comment here fully aware that the answers I'll receive are: - It's not regular cars it's regular reviews of cars; - This kind of content is what the audience/"we" want; - Modified cars are interesting; - Nobody wants to hear about bubble-era Ford Tauruses or Oldsmobile Aleros I think of that interview RCR held where they depicted RCR as the channel that explored the car that Jeremy Clarkson made a joke about before moving onto a supercar. I got my wife into this channel over the PT Cruiser and HHR reviews because of the literary themes used. I learned what post modernism was because of the PT Cruiser, and know I won't shut up about it. I'm turning this into a cringey "get back to your roots guys" comment, but I feel strongly about it. I've listened to more and more engine-talk and driving experience babble that has begun to sound more and more like every Car and Driver article out there. Give me that sweet saucy s o c i o l o g y like you used to. Hit me like you used to before.

Useful, but most wouldn't consider it necessary unless the hill is really steep, there's a douchebag brodozer truck grille 3" from your bumper, or the person is just learning. If modded VQ G35/37s sounded like 9:58, their owners would receive praise instead of contempt. Instead, most sound like rageaholic 2-cycle leaf blowers with exhaust crackles faker than the 47 year-old grandma who says she's happy to watch the kids for the 6th night in a row.

I enjoyed my 04 g35 coupe. Had it for 4 years. Kept it stock and just enjoyed it. I drove it through 4 pennsylvania winters. And it was a nice car that never let me down. But I was ready for something new so kt was time to part ways

To be honest I traded in my 03 G35 this year with 200K+ miles and I was getting compliments into the 2020's, and not from teenage idiot drivers. It's a car I would have loved to keep and restore one day as the 03-06 G35 has some value as a restoration especially if not beat to shit or modded.

Sleepers are the best. You can blow the shoes off anyone showboating, without passerbys drooling and wanting to touch your car, and cops don't pay any attention to them.

G35s get slapped down a lot, but it’s one of the best used car values out there. Coupes go for $6k to $10k for manuals, and the sedans are going for next to nothing.
@JamesJamersonIsAGod3 жыл бұрын
It’s never about the actual car and always about what the worst segment of that type of cars owners do to the car or how they act. And the cheaper the car the more likely that owner is a 17 year old fuk-boy. I agree, the coupes drive fairly well and a car like a G37x Sedan is actually a sick buy for the money. When I was 17 the douchers had 3rd gen Integras and poor people had 1980s Corollas or 3rd gen Celicas and Supras. Flash forward almost 20 years and basically all of those cars are “cool” cars.

G35s are the spiritual successors to the 240sx. A platform on which you build.
@Rayrard3 жыл бұрын
I find the sedans are boring cookie cutter design but the coupes stand out from any mid-2000's design. They might not have the luster they had in the 2000's but their styling holds up quite well. I think they ruined the design when they changed to the G37 and rounded out the edges.

Hold on, he put a GM 4.8 van engine in it? I'm pretty sure the stock Nissan engine had more power than a stock GM 4.8 at around 305HP. You can build the Nissan engine and turbo it which would be way easier and easier resale. Smart choice!
