Appreciate the video! Very helpful. Just a heads up to others- when I took the large black box out it had 1 8mm bolt holding it in towards the back, however I was working on a 2005.

I'm always glad someone finds one of our videos useful! Sorry about the head-on... I've only ever been in a rear-end collision and it was a blur (I was in my little Suzuki Samurai and got rear ended by a Chevy Lumina doing about 40 when I was at a stop), I couldn't image being in a head on.

@@GearTubeTV well I was at a four-way stop sign making a left hand turn in a 30 mph zone and I had stopped the beautiful Lincoln town car stopped on my right and didn't even notice cuz they were doing 65 the truckload of kids until it was too late and I heard the scream. Sorry if I'm rambling question, I can't seem to find anywhere that says putting permatex is a bad thing looking at this type of gasket for the valve cover however doesn't look like it needs permatex my question is did you use permatex or a type of sealant on your install and did you use it on both sides? I'm really debating whether to use it at all perplexing. Thank God for the internet 😇

As of this week - no. We actually got rid of the Liberty and now my father-in-law drives it. He says there has been no issues or check engine lights. 👍

I recently got a check engine light on my 05’ liberty but the code was crankshaft position sensor not camshaft. Are these two different sensors?

Yep, they sure are. One under the engine near the oil pan (crankshaft) and one on the side of the engine (camshaft).

Did you use an OEM brand or aftermarket one to replace?

I recommend OEM, which I ordered through Rock Auto. There was some information out there amongst the internet about using OEM for these sensors, so I decided that was probably best. I'm sure it cost more just because of the Mopar plastic bag it was in lol.

Hi. You make another video about Crankshaft Position Sensor for this Jeep; So, looks like they are different sensors? Sorry my ignorance, but because you did not mention the difference between both parts, I'm a bit confuse.

They are different sensors. The crankshaft is based upon the crank at the bottom of the engine that moves the cylinders up and down. The camshaft sensor is based upon the rotation of the camshaft, which opens and closed your intake and exhaust valves at the cylinder. The issue I had was the check engine light code can be caused by either the crankshaft position sensor or camshaft position sensor. So, I replaced them both. There are 2 different videos because of that. If that confused you more I apologize.

@@GearTubeTV hello sir I know you made this a few years ago but I own a 04 Jeep Liberty that threw a po300 code multiple cylinder misfire in the diagnosis was a crankshaft position sensor. Although my check engine light went back off should I still replace the crankshaft position sensor?

Where did you order the Mopar sensor from?

Rock Auto is where I get most of my smaller parts, and a decent place to find OEM parts without searching individual dealerships.

Did you have to do a camshaft relearn. I got a Mopar sensor and wanted to know about a relearn before I installed and started it up? Thanks my jeep is an 05 liberty v6.
