I'm in my second year with a 2007 GX470 and couldn't be happier. It's exceptional for all the reason you've pointed out. The rear door, by the way, can be opened in my garage without the garage door itself being opened. If it opened upward I couldn't do that. Mine only has 115,000 miles so I'm looking forward to many years with it.

I have brought home numerous SUV's for my wife to check out. I am in the auto business and have access to all types of vehicles. Our 07 has 140k on it, about double the milage that we bought it 6 years ago and she will not leave it. She doesn't like all of the lane departure, forward facing cameras, advance cruise control, none of that stuff to break and require calibration. Not to mention annoying beeps and warning lights that come on while these systems monitor your driving. There is something both simple and luxurious about this vehicle. It feels safe on the road and has been absolutely bulletproof in reliability. Other than 5,000-mile oil changes, I think I put tires, a timing belt and water pump. Thats it in 70,000 miles. The Lexus will be staying around indefinitely.

My dream suv, I had the first gen rx330 back in 2000, back then when suv's were not popular. I put 250k miles on it in 11 years, and traded in for prius v. Now with family of 3 kids, we will keep the prius v, and looking to buy used toyota sienna. We considered the GX would be too small on long trips, because if you use the third row(sometimes we have 7 people), which is small, you would have zero cargo space:).

What are you thoughts on this ?
