I've owned 6 Grand Marquis over the last 27 years. Always bought the good ones by even traveling around 7 states to get a good one. Only from 1 owner private sales, usually from elderly folks. I will only buy Park Lane Editions even though I owned a rare CTE. Great comfortable trouble free cars. Yes, I've replaced a couple intake manifolds but the rest is simple stuff. My current Grand Marquis I bought from an estate from a 74 yr old lady who past away. A mint 1 owner garaged 2003 Park Lane w/only 70,000 miles for $4,000 in 2020. Her only son just wanted to get rid of it fast because it always reminded him of his sick suffering mom passing away. Hence $4,000. I did notice though, they are getting extremely harder to find now. 1 owner, low mile, garaged Grand Marquis. I love these cars.

@@LoveWhatYouDrive I will and thank you. Gonna hit like and subscribe. Being 59 yrs old, I started w/the Grand Marquis at 32 around 1995. Got teased alot by my friends for driving an old fart car. Same friends and you should here them now. Usually get between 225,000-265,000 miles before getting rid of. Great reliable car if you take care of them. Thanks again & great vid.

@@neilouellette3004 Thanks of sharing that, I just turned 37 and got into this thing and you're right, some love it some make fun of it. my wife was skeptical until we took a trip the next month after getting the car up to north Michigan in February and this thing handled the 1k mile trip one way like a boss. The space, the comfort, the cruising feel, the V8 power and all that while getting 25-28 mpg. Its funny til the get a ride in a panther, then they want one too secretly lol! thanks man for the sub and stories.

I appreciate the fact that you recorded this bare bones video showing warts and all....no music, special effects or editing. You have a good friend in the guy who hooked you up with that car. I especially love the two-tone interior. The upgrade to the 17" TC wheels is a nice touch. And I don't blame you for wanting to get it in top-notch operating condition before starting and bodywork/appearance work being done. I also commend you on sound quality and fine audio. Most people do not keep mic close to their person and there is always alot of interference. Kudos to you, sir. I, too, have a 2006 MGM LS. It is a great car and I have both a pro and con to share. My pro is the interior in mine is black leather. The only chrome trim that it has is that of the door handles and a four small chrome rings on the aftermarket steering wheel cover (black leather w/fake burled walnut trim). I had my windows tinted. I think it makes the car stand out but I did it mostly to keep the interior from rotting out prematurely due to sun damage from UV rays. My LS has the FoMoCo paint code JP Silver Birch Metallic on the exterior. That is my con. The paint that was on it was coming off in sheets in multiple spots all over the flat surfaces of the body (hood, front fenders, roof, rear decklid, passenger C-pillar). I had it painted in March of this year. Car looks like a brand new car. Also mine did not have the dual exhaust or the air ride suspension options. But I did have a complete stainless steel dual exhaust system put on to replace the factory single exhaust. I upgraded to 2" pipe from the rear cats back. I had shop install 18" glasspacs and 10" black powder coated exhaust tips (3" dia). The car sounds amazing and averages about 19 to 20 mpg. Even more on long trips. Btw......you will NOT find the code for keyless entry door pad inside your driver's door my friend. I brought mine used and I had two key fobs and two sets of programmed keys when I purchased the automobile. 2005 was the last year for the code to be on module label beside door speaker. But I took it to dealer....and for $50 I got the code. You will need a working programmable key and the car to do this. I printed me several copies and taped one to inside of trunk hinge just like my other MGM (1998 GS). Thanks for good video and hope this bit about code was helpful. Goodluck with your beautiful automobile.
@LoveWhatYouDrive

Thank for watching I appreciate you! I also appreciate your input and honest feedback! 👍🏼 I think you are the second or the third person to tell me I will not find the code on the inside of the door. Bummer! I’ll have to get it either way from dealer or other source. I love black interiors but, beggars can’t be choosers as they say. I just enjoy the comfort of these big leather seats, the color is a plus if it was black. I will be installing a dual complete oem exhaust I bought for $40 from Facebook MarketPlace and later upgrading to aftermarket mufflers, something on the quieter side. And now that I have this video documented I can start with bumper cover and pillar and roof repair and so on! I appreciate your story and your time!

My 07 Marquis had the same issue with the door locks. The door lock actuator attaches to the side of the door inside with a rivet. The rivet breaks off. Look at your rear doors to see what I'm talking about. What I did was just replace the broken rivet with a nut and bolt, and it fixed the locks right up. My car also did not have the sticker for the door code inside the door panel, so yours might not either, as It seems 06 and 07 model year cars don't have it printed on the door control module. I had to pull the door code on mine using ForScan and a $20 OBDII reader I got on Amazon.

Speaking of changing engine oil, I CHANGE MY ENGINE OIL EVERY THREE MONTHS when the light appears in the dashboard and says change the engine oil soon, and i always use full synthetic engine oil on 08 grand marquis ls, but the mileage are very high in it, which is 193000 miles but the engine is running super smoothly fine, and I'm going to buy another grand marquis with a very low mileage which is 58,000 on it, and I'm also in Florida, your video is great, Grand marquis, crown vic, town car are the best car on this planet, and I really love those cars, it's will maintain my grand marquis Ls to the end, thanks

Looking forward to the coming vlogs. I am on my second Marquis, a 2008 with 80,000 miles on it.I bought my first one in 2000. That gives me 22 years of virtual trouble free motoring out of two Mercury Marquis cars and the only thing wrong is lately my front passenger window doesn't move but the motor runs. Excited to see how and what you do to your lovely car. Thank you.

The tinted windows are a good sun protector from the sun bleaching out the color of seats and warping & cracking the dashboard. If the interior is leather protects it drying the leather out causing it to crack split apart at seams

Right on Art, Very nice video. Nice filming location. Good audio / video quality. My hood used to not pop like that. I lubed it, and it worked for about a week. A month later the hood fell closed when a slight breeze blew. I replaced the hood struts with a heap $15 pair from Amazon, and now the hood pops really well. The instrument cluster looks wavy like that due to "camera shutter speed". -Chuck
@LoveWhatYouDrive
@LoveWhatYouDrive 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Chuck it’s always informative and the treat when you chime in. Thanks for all the support and useful advice. I will mess with the shutter speed on the GoPro that I use and play with it to compensate for the wavy digital dash. And you are right I do need to change the hood struts because they don’t hold up the hood sometimes and greasing the hood latch with WD-40 helps for probably like two months. So there’s a lot of bugs to work out. Once again thank you see you in the next one!

To open your hood, while pulling out on interior hood latch, make a fist and hit straight down on back of hood. Don't worry your not gonna dent or mark the hood. Works all the time. The old "Fonzie" Happy Days move.

@@LoveWhatYouDrive im actually still watching ur video. 59,700 miles , old lady car. Benefits of these old folks cars are > well cared for , usually serviced regularly and sometimes Garage kept. Disadvantages > they bump em into stuff and scrap em against the rose bushes :) Hey? BTW, I've had that door lock problem on my old G. M. > The aluminum rivet that holds the Lock Actuator device inside the door had fractured. Was long time ago, think I fixed it myself w/ S.S. fasteners (w/ acorn nut to the outside) I always use 316 s.s. cause corrosion resistance. Hate rust ! Rust never sleeps :) Also , don't have the Keyless Entry Code for this 07. My old one was on Trunk Lid Support Arm. Not this one > couple KZbin videos said on Diir Module inside Dr Door Panel. No luck. More research, guy said somewhere after 06 they stopped putting Code there. If ur lucky, it will b on yours. Otherwise, off to Dlr. Did I mention > love those wheels :)
