Get one south of the rust belt. They're everywhere old people live, like Florida. I bought all of mine between Tampa Bay and Sarasota. Bought my 70k mile crown Vic for $1,800. I've had to replace the ball joints in all of them but never the air conditioning. The AC in the 03 Grand Marquis with 225k miles is the coldest ac I've ever known and I've never touched it in 100k miles. There's also parts galore for these cars. Every junk yard has a dozen or more and every parts house has almost every part in stock. It's such a good time to be alive with all these cars everywhere for less than a typical c*nt car.

@@pantherplatform I have 2, they are great cars. They all have the same issues; Ball joints at about 100k miles, Heater core at about 130k, Alternator at around 120k, my 1999 popped a spark plug at 180k, probably good to get the special plugs well before that. AC compressor at about 140k. Engine still burns no oil at 190k, stainless exhaust still perfect, intermittent issues on both with front passenger power window (electrical) and driver's solenoid door lock (also electrical). None of these issues are atypical for a car of such mileage, and I would not hesitate to buy another as they are easy and relatively inexpensive to repair.

@@OldeCarrGuy hell yeah. Two of my vics are P71's. I bought them both for $500. I love the green Grand Marquis. It's as close to a P71 as it gets minus the gear ratio. That's what I have town cars for. They already got all that stuff. I drove the 05 town car and 03 crown vic back from Florida, 1600 miles, at the end of March and there's definitely a difference between dual exhaust and a 3.27 and the crown vic with single exhaust and a 2.73. Doug loved your video it made me laugh and smile. I was happy to find my 2008 Mercury grand Marquis GS in October 2018. Only 17,000 miles old lady had it to take to her church books sales she loved the big trunk. Never out in the snow hardly out in the rain. Occasionally on the highway to the mall. The car was like new when I got it and it’s still in great shape. Love this car. Want to put on a stainless Works duel exhaust. Also get a tune from Marty ochs want to find another Mercury grand Marquis or Lincoln town car with low miles. Then I don’t have to worry about another car for quite a while and I’ll get to enjoy two great cars. They don’t Make them that well anymore. Minimal upkeep with these cars and not expensive

@@OldeCarrGuy Thanks for clearing that up !! Fact is, those so-called "Cold Air Intakes" are pretty close to worthless at anything less than Wide Open Throttle. The car's computer measures the Inlet Air Temperature, and adjusts the mixture accordingly. The VERY SLIGHT decrease in I.A.T. has a VERY SLIGHT effect on measureable horsepower under normal driving conditions.

@@OldeCarrGuy Yes it is. I just wanted to let people know that not all panther platform vehicles are the same (at least from the inside). I believe that the "Executive" version had even more leg room than the "Signature" series but at the cost of a minor loss in trunk space. Even the rear doors are longer (at least what I've seen from the 1998 and after). I need to get a closer look at them. I had my 1997 Lincoln Town Car Signature Series for over 12 years now. One of the 2 best cars I've ever owned (The other was a 1992 Chrysler New Yorker Fifth Avenue which actually was a strectched Chrysler K platform, but that's another story).

My favorite is 2003. Half of them are genuine 03's and the second half of the model year are more like 04's. The 03's have a clock in the dash, light under the hood, map pouches in the seats, black b pillars, remote fuel door opener, full size engine cover, and some other distinct features that only an 03 has. There are some huge differences between the 03 and newer and the 02 and older model years. If it's older than 03, it's got the same chassis as every panther going back to the 80's. The 03 on up has a totally redesigned frame, suspension, brakes, engine, transmission, etc.

Ask yourself what would you pay for a similar 5 year old car. I think $5k is a good buy if it's in the condition you say it is. Congrats.

2005 and up operate the throttle electronically rather than by throttle cable on the 2004 and down like mine. It is possible that they may be that sensitive. Thanks for watching. I hope this helps you with making a decision.
