2006 Scion TC power steering pump removal Aprox 3hrs R&R

The power steering pump uses 14mm, 17mm, & 12mm Sway bar bolts are 17mm do not break the wiring connector you need it for the new pump 17mm deep socket after repair add ATF mercon dextron transmission fluid then turn the steering wheel all the way Left and Right repeat aprox 12 times then add more fluid until full and test drive the car

What noise was it making when it went out? My reservoir is half full, but had some spill off the top. It's making a grinding noise unless I drive straight. Thanks

Elsa Z if it gets worse when you turn the wheel left and right then yes start with the pump first but only after you check to make sure the power steering lines aren't leaking.

Can i use autozone power steering fluid which is clear in color for my 2006 scion tc?

Trying to get the head off of a 07 Scion and I was about to do some crazy stuff to pull the PS bolts all the way though. I was confused by that 3rd bolt the just holds the bracket. Now I can pry with confidence.already have the lower bolt out and the upper bolt loose. This helped me very much! Thanks !!

Be careful with the sensor on top of the power steering pump make sure you remove it first because it will brake once you pull the steering pump

Is tye car drivable with the sensor not sending back signal to the pcm? I ripped the wire when dropping the motor in

Do the bolts hit the chassis or did you drop the engine to remove the bolts on the pump?

You have to unscrew the two bolts on the side where the engine is inside the power steering pulley then pull the bolts out about an inch and then you can pry out the pump the first hole is made for the removal of the pump and the last hole is where it actually has threads

I had to disconnect The sway bar on both the driver and passenger sides so I could lower it down out the way, then there should be more of a gap to R&R the pump.

Thanks for the video. Will this method work for the 2007 scion tc? I think the pump is going out because it sounds like a squeaky wheel but only when its cold outside. Any advice is welcomed.

Jonis Janplin yea but you also have to add fluids then turn the steering wheel all the way to the Left and Right more than 10 times to make the air bleed out, then test drive it
