Just completed this on my '08 Jeep SRT8 after watching your video. It went pretty smoothly. Took close to 3 hours start to clean-up. I wish I would have looked a little closer before removing my upper Radiator hose, as I see why you removed yours because of the CAI Box which I don't have. I run a BWoody CAI that when removed it left a big gaping hole to easily go right in and bring out the Alternator, so I lost a good amount of coolant and time working on that and having to clean up the spilled coolant on the garage floor, so maybe chop 45 minutes off my 3 hour time dealing with all that. After I finished buttoning up everything and cleaning up, I went to start the Jeep and it still gave me the same problem I was trying to solve with a new Alternator, just a click and nothing else, I turned the key 2 or 3 more times and she started right up though. (Jeep has a new Battery Sept 2023, new Key Fob Battery Oct 2023, New Starter replaced in early 2020, and Ignition Switch Recall was done in early 2020, which gave me 2 new Key FOBS as well), the only thing not changed out was the Alternator, until now). I ran around town for a little while, shutting her off and starting her back up several times, some of the stops it was off for about 30 mins or so to cool down and so far it seems like the "click and no start problem" has gone away. I did notice in your video when you went to start it up at the end of the video, after the install, it seems like you had already started it up off camera and then when you were back on camera, you said "let's hope she starts", do you recall if your Jeep had given you a problem at the initial start-up immediately after installing the Alternator, or did it start right up first try at the first attempt? Mine seems to be ok now, I just put her away for the night...going to let it cool all the way down and then check coolant level in the morning and hopefully it will start right up on the first key turn, I'm praying.

Nah man that was the first start in the vid. It if start and clicks its usually your starter. Mine did what yours was doing. Replaced the starter and I was good to go.

@@RawGolfChannel That's what I was hoping it wouldn't be. But now that I've changed out everything it only points to the starter. Thanks for getting back to me, and for the really instructive videos. Going to research starter motors now.

@4thinthefire the starter is wicked easy. Should only take 30min or so.

@@RawGolfChannel Awesome, I'll be doing that next. The biggest challenge I faced yesterday was the Serpentine Belt and that turned out not to be as bad as I was making it out to be.

@4thinthefire I personally found all work done to be very easy for never owning one before and know nothing about them before I started working on them.

Thanks for the video. I ordered a high output alt from Ohio Generators. Looking forward to putting it in and having it keep up with my 2000 watts (hopefully).

How long should it take to change out the alternator, have an '08 SRT8 that needs a new one. Also, just confirmed that the Alternator Part# 15465 ONLY fits a 2006 Jeep SRT8, anything 2007-2010 needs Alternator Part #11241, harness is different. The Continental Serpentine Belt fits all years from 2006-2010.

How did that upper bracket fit on the post so easily? I wrestled with that for an hour. I couldn’t get that crush bolt to push in enough. I was getting hung up by like a mm. Supe frustrating. Also looks like that back part is on an angle.
@RawGolfChannel2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I don't know, it just fit like it should. Andnit was on there as straight as designed. That I promise.

Any whining noises coming from alternator?what made you come to conclusions for changing it
@RawGolfChannel3 жыл бұрын
No noises. Just had no idea the last time it was changed so I just changed it to be safe. It's super easy to swap out also why I did it.

@@RawGolfChannel I'm in the process of eliminating the problem Rightnow with my 07 srt. Thinking its The Alternator.

@@ryanlopez4371 if you are having electrical issues, your alternator is probably bad or going bad. Again super easy to change.

You mean the "eyebrows"? I painted mine. Removed the headlights, measured, taped, painted. If someone made a plastic cover I would def buy it.
