Adams is a legend, i met him once at an exhibition as well, i still have his autograph:) that was like 20 years ago. he even asked me to play a game with him on stage, but i was to shy, i still feel regrets about that lol.

Greetings from Dublin, Ireland. There was a well known Darts pub here in Dublin called The Submarine Bar (Sadly there no more) & the "who's who" of the game have played a leg or 2 there at 1 time or other & the nicest I've had the pleasure of playing a leg with, John Lowe. He was a frequent visitor too & on 1 occasion went as far as far as to visit a young fan in a local hospital unable to attend the exhibition & presented him with a signed shirt & a set of Darts.

Gotta love KZbin comments. Martin Adams reached the final of a pretty big tournament, lost to the greatest player in darting history, and yet people are using this as "proof" Adams is shit, it boggles the mind. It's completely true that he never switched codes because he was happy being the best in the BDO, and he wasn't much of a loss to the PDC, but he was a massive gain for the BDO. Plus don't forget every single one of the main players these days started out in the BDO, all of them.

+Helldhaz A so called top sportsman not stepping up to a challenge when presented with it should lead to ridicule and rightly so. Adams would have bobbed around in the top 10 of the PDC being anonymous, but at least have a go. He might even have improved with better competition. Nobody is denying the BDO in terms of bedding in talent, but that's all it is now, a lower league compared to the PDC's premier league.

IKR... I think they forgot that Taylor lost the PDC championship in 2007 to the Reigning BDO champ Barney, I guess that makes him shit too.

​@@vinnyvasquez The BDO always made it difficult for players to leave though, there was a rule until this year that stated that if they go to PDC Q-School and don't get a card then they cannot come back to the BDO. It's a big risk to take when only 1/15-20 players get a tour card.

Martin Adams reached the PDC Matchplay semi final and Grand prix quarter finals in2001 . He also won a players championship event in 1999.Beating Taylor in the event . Adams would of done ok in the PDC . Most likely of been in the first few premier leagues

He also lost in the first round the other time he played in the Matchplay. Adams got battered by Barney at Lakeside in 2005 and 2006, 6-2 both times. In 2005, he lost the Masters semi to Barney 6-1 and in 2006 he lost the Masters final to a teenage MVG 7-5 after leading 5-2. He got thrashed by Taylor every time they met on TV, including the Matchplay in 2001 and the World Darts Trophy in 2006. Adams will never live down the fact that all his successes in the BDO came after 2006 when Barney and most of the other top pros had switched. He might have hung around the top 20 in the PDC like Chisnall/Hamilton/King do/did but he'd never have been a world champ.

One thing I like to say to Phil Mitchell. In my opinion the PDC had the better players at the moment Raymond van Barneveld came to PDC. It was the year 2006 .Untill that year it was the BDO with the better players. Exept Phil Taylor ofcourse. Everything was a about the mony .

The BDO supposedly had the best players before 2006, yet most of these players who had been champions, finalists, semi-finalists at the Lakeside (like Beaton, Burnett, Baxter, Jenkins, Mason etc) never got anywhere in the PDC.

my stats approved by Mr Hearne himself. this was Martins best ever average and he got 8 or 9 throws at a double in a long match. his average is a first nine dart average. that's why he never ever got the money contract. NOT GOOD ENOUGH

Nobody ever says Adams is better than Taylor, as that'd be silly. The fact that he got to the final here though, of A CROSS-CODE event shows that he can mix it with the other top PDC players.

nope he's just not good like the players you mentioned in your post he's no where near the pdc top 6 players they have all hit 9 darters and they have made the game more popular to non darters in a positive note I thin if he changed over to the pdc he would become a good player he just has to handle getting thrashed when changes over
