2007-14 Ford Edge Rear Diff (RDU Replacement) With Computer Programming How TO.

Hey everyone, today i replace the rear diff in my wife’s car. The ATC (Automatic Torque Coupling) splines were stripped. This means power going in to the diff is being applied by the car, however no power is being transmitted to the rear wheels as the spline is stripped. Sadly a new diff is required as Ford does not sell any internal parts.
This is a brief replacement video and a quick How To on the computer programming of the coupler.
My differential came pre filled with oil, however it seemed “milky” and had a very odd texture that i was not OK with. I drained and re filled it with good quality 80-90 GL5 rated.
I encourage people doing this job to check the oil.

If the old one is S-154-A and the new one is s-150-A will that matter ?

I really do not know. I could not determine this and bought one through ford.

So I took my 07 for edge to shop and they said it would be around 3 thousand and said it could last 100 to thousands of miles yet.. literally next day driving pulling up to the stop sign was grinding and then pop and wheels locked and bucked I was able to get it down the road some into a parking lot was going to get it towed to garage but been calling around… definitely not cheap

Not at all, may be able to get a refurb off ebay for cheap. I found many used ones for other years. However for my 14 it seemed there was something special about it.

How can I program it without a lap top

Sorry I do not believe you can. You could get a dealer to do it. I specifically downloaded the program and bought the connector for this job.

Hey, unfortunately had to get it from the dealer. It was around 3000$. Many on ebay for less than 1000$ but I could not guarantee fitment.
