Removing the intake manifold is the easiest way to replace the starter just replace my si starter took me 2hours including going to the store to buy a new one lol

The same happened to me when I went to unplug the knock sensor. It's the glue that fails.

bro.... you should of just rebuilt the original starter its so simple all you need to do is purchase the original brushes from the honda dealer it cost me 61 dollars not sure how much where you are.remove the older one and replace it with the new brushes. youre gonna blow all the dust out and put some gear lube on any moving parts there is a video here in youtube on how to rebuild i learned it here i hope you keep the original starter so that you can try it.

That's a great idea! I've never done that before but that would be a good idea to rebuild and make a video on it! Sounds easy enough from what you're saying. Thanks!

My local dealer $440 for the rebuild kit. I asked if they just had the “brushes”…. Nope just the rebuild kit. Napa has a remanufactured for $400

I was taking the manifold out but couldn’t due to the cable wires that runs through the bracket manifold didn’t want to snap off( not even the top lug nut)! Had to do it your way. Process of rebuilding starter

For the knock sensor you’ll need a 24mm socket preferably a deep socket! Doesn’t have to be very tight when you screw it back in just snug!

I replaced mine but when I started it, I started hearing grinding sounds and immediately shut it off. You know what is it and how to fix it?
@accordinglytuned717220 күн бұрын
@@Delight22-fp it's probably the Bendix gear in the starter going out, it'll still work but eventually will go out and will need to replace the starter

@@accordinglytuned7172 you think? I mean is it brand new.
@accordinglytuned717220 күн бұрын
@@Delight22-fp if it's not OEM it could be likely, it's pretty common in Honda's to grind a little on start up, my Honda Fit did it in the cold for awhile but still started everyday.

Me too, owned it from 94k miles to 100k miles today. Clutch went out, AC went out, now the starter appears to be going out (in less the 6k miles). Praying it's just bad luck, it's a Honda so it should last a long time. Best of luck to you.

That 14mm bolt is hard to break loose. Any suggestions?
@accordinglytuned7172 Жыл бұрын
Try to use a breaker bar or an impact, mine wasn't really that hard to remove.
@garydane40563 ай бұрын
Regular socket and ratchet. Place ratchet under wiring. Cycle ratchet handle to lowest position. Get 12" pipe or longer that will fit over ratchet handle. It won't move much, but enough to break it loose enough to finish loostening.
