I put 5W30 in my 2009 RX350, that's what is stamped on the oil fill cap. It's a 3.5 2GR-FE which I don't think changed much in later years. I live in NY - cold winters and hot summers.

They call for 0w20 in later years. But if you put whatever the oil cap or owner’s manual asks for, you are good.

Thank you for great video. Did another oil change. I have been using mobile one oil for oil changes. Can I switch to Kirkland 0w-20 ( Costco brand ). Or should I just stay with what I am doing. I have a 2019 RX350

Nice one👍 Would you recommend using 5W-30 instead of 0W-20 for a 2015 RX450h please? Thank you
@Viktor_G_Automotive5 ай бұрын
I always use whatever Lexus recommends on the oil cap. 5w30 would be OK in hot climate, but will marginally increase fuel consumption.
@andreisalamov35535 ай бұрын
@@Viktor_G_Automotive Definitely UK is not in a hot climate region 😁. I won't mind an increase in fuel consumption using a higher viscosity oil. The idea is to keep the engine wearing less as time goes on. I'm right to think so? Is it safe? Another question which popped in my mind please? How often should we change the e-cvt transmission oil for our RX please? Thank you.
@walmull1115 ай бұрын
@@andreisalamov3553 You don’t have to change the transmission oil. It is "filled for life”.
@Viktor_G_Automotive5 ай бұрын
@@andreisalamov3553 it’s most likely safe, but I am not an oil expert. When I worked at the dealership, we would use what the manual recommended. Don’t know for sure if thicker oil will make the engine last longer. I would recommend transmission fluid replacement every 60K miles.

Hi Viktor, My 2010 RX350's mileage is now at 207,000km...I've been running 5w30 oil in it year around in Sydney, Aus. In winters (lowest temp around 5C) so I always run 5w30 in it. Summers down here could get as hot as 36C, sometimes 38C. Do you recommend to run 5w40 in my vehicle during 3 months of summer down here in Southern Hemisphere? or 5w30 year around is fine? [Engine oil is changed every 8,000km with Ryco Synthetic oil filter changed at 15,000km intervals). Cheers

Sorry, I have no experience operating vehicles in that type of climate. Here in Canada we use 0w20 oil year around in that model as per factory recommendations.

Perhaps there is a Canadian owner of a 4th Gen RX450h who would like his water pump replaced by you ?. Worth a try ................ Pin a query to your posts .

Good suggestion, I will look into this further down the road, as I am still not done editing all the videos I have. I need to complete that before I can focus on making new content.
