Belt snapped on mine, was told by several specialists that it is a front off job and special timing tools required, bought a new belt and followed your video, getting the belt on was a little fiddly but all good, started first crank and seems to be running well, cheers for the info on the video and saving a small fortune 👍

It still is a job to get done by a specialist. On this case it isnt needed to take off timing belt on any marks... Its easier...

Nice video and just changed the belt on mine...I did not have to fully remove the adjustment cam, just loosened it off putting the new belt on over the fuel pump first, then camshaft, then adjustment cam last. All in all about a one hour job 👌🏿

Thank you very much! The same thing happened in a car that showed up at the car workshop where I work and this video helped us quickly realize that it could be the same situation!

Thank you!!! I was going to change the fuel pressure regulator but after watching your video I think the belt should be checked as well. And whoala, belt had no teeth 17 euros later everything is fine!

Nice video, thank. I think that's just happened to my '07 3.0 TDI Le Mans, 180k miles. Real fiddly looking...

How do I get the tensioner to lock to the left please?

Thanks a lot for this video @Bremar very helpful. Have you tried replacing the high-pressure fuel pump on this engine? Do you perhaps have resources that you can direct me to? Will appreciate that

No I have never replaced a high pressure fuel pump. This sorted my problem anc can not point you anywhere. Thanks

Hello mate, one question, do you perhaps know how many teeth does your belt hsve? I believe the belt that I got is too short, it is 82 teeth

Would this be the same on a 2011 A5 2.7tdi V6 Diesel?

Hi Bremar, Do you have to set it on timing marks or something? or can you just place the belt?
@bremarashford3 жыл бұрын
No timing marks. it just turns the high pressure fuel pump. I tensioned it by just being able to twist belt 90 degrees which is often the suggested tension to avoid over tightening and damaging bearings. There is probably a more specific way but I don’t know what that would be.

@@bremarashford I have fixed the car now, thanks for the video and the replay.

Can i please ask what were the signs of this fault ? Has the car just not started once, or were there other signs?
@bremarashford2 жыл бұрын
Engine would periodically just stop while driving. The heater plug sign would come on. Slow diving ok. Any acceleration engine would just stop. You could coax it to drive really slowly but not drive it.

Nice video, the way you say toothed offends me though haha. Trust the car is running fine now?
@bremarashford3 жыл бұрын
Yes absolutely fine. Before finding the belt problem there had been odd times the engine had died on me. I had the crank sensor replaced but it still kept periodically doing it. This was over a few months. It felt like a misfire then the engine dying. I guess as teeth dropped off it would have trouble building up fuel pressure in the fuel rail. Some 300 plus miles now and no issues.

Hi, what caused the teeth to break on the belt? I have the same problem

@@bremarashford my new Belt have 20 000 km and the same problém. SKF
@bremarashford3 жыл бұрын
Belts I buy are always either from the dealer or a Gates belt. If you’ve done the same I can’t guess why the problem in only 20,000km.
