Thanks for showing all the parts with plenty of light. Also, thank you for mentioning all the tips and troubles that you had. That helps us a lot.

i like the way you did this video, took your time to show every step and get things out of the way. sometimes its better to take the time to make room rather than to maneuver around hoses and curse and swear. if you do maintenance on your own cars you know what i mean. make it easy on yourself. thanks!

Good camera shots. I think you made a lot of extra work for yourself to get them, so thanks. Taking shroud on bottom off was a total waste of time. You could definitely edit this and shorten it up. I think you should have jacked it down flat while filling, then jack it back up to put plug in. Sealed system should have right level. Thank you!

Great video. Very informative. I was wondering if you know if the o-rings in the trans are replaceable. Mine is leaking from the bottom line at the trans. I don’t think changing lines will be the fix for this. Thx.

Yeah, I just had to do this on a 08 Saturn same thing the dormans were not the right part for the fittings, I had to go to Napa and spend $22 each on those quick disconnect fittings NAPA part number is 730-5740.

If those lines were leaking would it cause my transmission to shift incorrectly or not at all because pressure is off?
@survivormary11264 жыл бұрын
I cut my lines with a sawzall after trying all kinds of disconnect gadgets and not being able to get clips out. Black cap helps put pressure on the clip to keep it in.

Sir does it need to be running to check the transmission fluid i just want to make sure thank you
@jimdandy64724 жыл бұрын
It does not need to be running. If you have dropped the pan and changed the filter, or had to installed new transmission line hoses it would be a good idea to add about the right amount, start the car and let it run for say 30 seconds in park, and then shut it off and do the final fill with the engine off. With the car level, and the threaded high level plug removed, pour transmission fluid in until it starts running out, and then put the plug in. Don't get overly concerned about a quarter cup one way or the other, there is some slack built into the design.

@@jimdandy6472 I changed the transmission cooler line on my 08 Chevy hhr and I warmed it up completely put it on a lift and while running I pulled the check plug and it poured out a lot like it was overfull so I let it drain about a quart out until it was seeping out! Will more come out when running I thought when they was shut off all the oil came down to the bottom that’s why I left it running I’m just worried I drained to much!

And can I ask another question the little nut that tightens against the transmission cooler lines you think I should tighten until it stops turning?
@jimdandy64724 жыл бұрын
@@NRASUPPORTER1911 It's not uncommon to find that someone added too much transmission fluid to a system without a dipstick. With about the right amount of fluid added, run the engine and with your foot on the brake, cycle the transmission through the gears so that fluid is in all of the internal passages, coolers, hoses, tubes, etc., and then back to Park and shut the engine Off. Then, with the car fairly level remove the fill plug. A small stream of fluid should come out. If not, the fluid level is low and thus add until it starts to trickle out. I don't think it would make much difference if the engine was running at idle, but I could be wrong. Many people get overly concerned about having the fluid at the right temp, the car perfectly level, and running or not, but +/- a cup is not a big deal. I say check with a dealer, but I do it with the engine off.

@@NRASUPPORTER1911 Yes, tighten until it obviously pulls things together and gets tight. It's pretty small, so don't go crazy, but just a bit of torque, like 15 ft-lbs.

How many quick connects did you have to replace
@jimdandy64723 жыл бұрын
Ended up being none. Never found a replacement quick connect fitting that fit, but the original ones have not leaked a bit. If they ever leak, I'll just replace the O-rings inside them.
@fdesimone66113 жыл бұрын
Do you ever find the correct connectors? If so, what size and where to buy? I’ve been looking as well and can’t find the same. O ring seems like only option unless you found something
