i watched this to brush up before changing the fuel pump in a former co-workers 07. the vid is well made. whole job by myself took 3 hours (i'm way out of shape) just take 1 step at a time and double check everything. this vid is very accurate

Thanks for the video Im about to replace my tank on my 07 Yukon XL. The membrane that is built into every tank started to break apart. About 6yrs ago right after I replaced the fuel pump. I Spent 1hr blowing out the membrane particles from within the fuel tank and fuel lines. Its similar to what's in the charcoal canister you removed hoses from. Thanks again for the video

this is absolutely the BEST video I have seen on this task so far. Very complete, perfect camera angles, and your explanation is just like a buddy is talking you through the task. the rear crossmember where that rear strap attaches to on my 2013 avalanche has rotted, so I'll be dropping my tank and welding in some angle iron to take care of it, but I'll swap the pump out at the same time too. thank you!

Man thanks for the great comment and I hope you get the cross member fix up. I yes would most definitely replace the fuel pump while you are there. Good luck 👍🏽

It’s not the bad if you don’t have a full tank of gas. You CAN DO IT!

Great video! Just a suggestion from doing this myself today... a couple of ratchet straps go a long way for helping the jack lower and raise the tank.

i cant stress enough about the hidden hose on top/back. ive done this job once about 3 years ago and i missed that. It worked out ok but i found if you break that 90 you have to replace the whole tank. its easy to miss since you can't see it till the tank starts coming down

So I have the evap code and will be changing my canister out after watching your other video but is your fuel pump problems due to the evap canister problems? Do I need to change the fuel pump once I change the evap caniater

The blue connector were a pain. It took me two day to figure what was going on. When I watch another video I saw it had red ones and thought it would be easy but it took awhile to get them off. Overall, once we got the tank off I notice that we had the wrong fuel pump and had to go back and get one that fits. The one they gave me was not angle in the right places. Wish I saw this video before I started. Thanks for your input on the blue connector, it was a fun project. Let us ask know what we can use to take off those blue ones. Because the rings fine do much for it to..
@michaelyoucanfixthat Жыл бұрын
Yes the connectors take up the whole job. You spend more time messing around with them than replacing the fuel pump. I just had to replace mine again because the fuel level was not working and with a full tank of gas by myself. It’s not that bad of a job once you get the connectors loose. I glad you got yours done.

Gm has upgraded the lines on top of the tank for these trucks. It makes it much easier to disconnect incase you do the job again
@michaelyoucanfixthat2 жыл бұрын
That's good. They need to make a kit that you can change the fuel pump through the floor of the truck. That's the 2nd fuel pump for that truck in 6 years.

@@michaelyoucanfixthat It’s amazing with all of the computer and electrical equipment my 2010 Yukon Demali XL has running through it that the engineering team thought this was the most effective and efficient method of installation! They really missed the mark on the access point of the Fuel Tank!

What happens if when you put the pump back in it doesn't go in properly? does the spring return it?
@michaelyoucanfixthat2 жыл бұрын
If I’m understanding you right. The spring keep the pump separated so the bottom of the pump where the intake for the fuel is stays on the bottom. It would be hard to put the pump in wrong. If it’s not in there good enough then the top hold down ring will not go on. Just make sure you have the right pump for your truck.
