Just a quick video showing how I cleaned the MAF or Mass Air Flow Sensor and changed the air filter on a 2007 Honda Accord. This vehicle was running fine, but if you have a hesitation, or hard start situation, this may help solve that problem. If the MAF is dirty, it might also cause a check engine light with P0171 system too lean code. Cleaning the MAF can also help restore your overall performance and MPG because the computer uses it's input to adjust fuel trims.
Some of the most common symptoms of a faulty or dirty mass airflow sensor:
Engine is very hard to start.
Engine stalls shortly after starting.
Engine hesitates or bogs down while under load or idle.
Hesitation when accelerating.
Engine idles excessively rich or lean.
I believe that Honda recommends changing the air filter every 30k miles as a part of a regular tune-up, but I usually do it every 10-12k miles. It really depends on your environment and driving/road conditions.
