2007 Honda Accord Hybrid

I drive a 2007 Honda Accord Hybrid, I have approx. 65000miles on it and recently I have got the check engine and IMA light ON:(...
The charging lights(green) and the motor Assistant (blue) are still kicking and the batteries are charging but I don't get the (SAV-green) light in the middle ON anymore! I also have a code P0KM4 which it's an enigma to Google and most people I asked...
I lost confidence in my local Honda Dealership since they are Very costly, inefficient and time consuming...
I disconnected the battery and everything was great for about 1000miles, than the lights came ON again!
The car runs fine but isn't as good as used to be on gas...
Any suggestions please?...

Lucky to have this 'problem', many of us paid to remove the eco mode, it is known to cause premature engine failure. I've lost an engine to it before

@@altheamcnabb2829 Yeah sorry, I was being sarcastic with the 'lucky'. If you want your engine to last (especially on the first generation of VCM accords and odysseys), it's best to remove it. I remember honda used to stock slightly oversized pistons and sleeves because of the damage VCM does to the cylinders.

I have a 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid and I have read that this problem could be the Battery... I live in the tropic weather and it's hot almost everyday. The check engine light comes on when you accelerate, with the A/C on, and it assists up to maximum level. It could be that the battery is too hot, and it's giving all it's got.

I had someone recently come over with a Honda Civic Hybrid. Same symptoms as yours! We live in Arizona so we have what we have… I took his batteries out and check every single one, all good but I what I think was the problem was a relay which wasn’t connecting the batteries to the generator/converter/charger….Now one thing that I would consider doing it’s drain the batteries and recharge in a very slow and controlled way and this it’s a cure sometimes!

I made that same thing recently and the ride feeling has changed so dramatically now the ride is so much smoother and the battery drains a lot slower

I'm sorry to hear about your car😒... In did, not much info on the Internet about this model! My car still does the same thing the check engine and IMA lights are coming on and off as I'm driving the only problem/inconvenience it's the ECO privilege ... I didn't fix it! For a while I thought it's related to the car battery but I'm not too sure, I also thought it could be related to elevation, for a while the problem was occurring only while I was going to a higher elevation 4000 ft. But bur sure it started after I washed the engine a couple of times! My car had currently 77k I got used to it and takes about 26-27 mil/gal. I'm ok with that! To play $2-3k to fix the problem isn't worth,what am I saving??? To sale it like this I have to drop the price so I will keep it for a while and maybe some opportunity will hit me and I may get a better deal!

Your battery for your hybrid is bad I changed mine out and the lights went off and it works fine now

I have hah 05. bought it brand new. now it's got 153xxx. now I have had check engine on and I'ma twice. I scanned it and the code is poac4 hybrid powertrain control module requested mil illination. I have read somewhere that this comes out with a new 12v car battery. so I bought a new battery and hopefully the code disappears.

Hi, just watched your video. Actually I owned an exactly same model as yours. I purchased it one year ago, when its mileage is about 70k, my current mileage is 76k. My IMA light and check engine light first time went on two month ago, that happened after I parked my car at the airport parking lot for a total month, in terms of that the car has not been used for a long time, I thought it may return to normal after I started using it for a while, and after reusing it for 2 days, these two lights went off, everything back to normal. But tonight, I suddenly realized these two lights went on while I'm driving, I'm a little frustrated because I've done nothing wrong about the car. I didn't notice whether the eco light can be on, I will check it later. It's lucky to find someone share the same problem with me, because information about this car is so little on internet. Did you just fix this problem by changing the battery (not the IMA battery)? I bought it as a used car, so I'm not very familiar with the warranty thing. Is the 8year/80kmile warranty feasible for anyone who owns the car? Thanks.

I have the same problem too mine is 2005 Honda Accord Hybrid V6 w 158k miles, IMA, & check engine light is on, for right now the only thing that’s on is the check engine, and ABS, TCS. but that’s just 2 sensors, for the check engine is saying it needs a knock sensor, other people say u need to replace the gasket I’m confused, it’s like leaked from the engine bay if the car was on a lift, u can see it thru all the grease and shit.. i need answers so please lmk what to do.. check engine either for knock sensor, transmission module

I still have the same problem! However the car it's taking about 26-28 mil/gal. The IMA and check engine lights it's On/Off. When they are ON the only thing that's no longer working it's the ECO system. The batteries are still charging, when I accelerate the blue light comes ON, when I slow down the green light comes On than when I STOP the engine will STOP also! I think the ECO light it's On when the VMS kicks in and only 3 or 4 cylinders are activated so not much loss! However the DEALERSHIP won't see me there!

NO! the battery and associated nonsense are a PITA . The electric assist only ads ~20? hp Yipppee ! Plus the battery .. once it starts to age is a serious problem which can cost up to 4000$ to "fix'

Not true, it's a V6 that gives you ~250hp and the hybrid system give you an option to save gas if you don't push hard on the gas. Mine is 2005 with 200k miles and still average 29mpg, zero work done on the drivetrain and still the original engine, transmission, and the hybrid battery!!

IMA light doesn't necessarily mean your battery is bad. That could have been a big waste of money. It could be the ima motor, the ecu inside the battery box, etc. Should have the ima light ran with a scanner that can test it and give you codes for what problem it's experiencing.

yep! the 12v battery was the problem. I've had a few hundred miles and check engine light has not come on. I thought it was not the 12v battery because before I changed it. I had check it with bolt meter and it was 14.2v. but I took a chance and bought a brand new die hard gold battery and it works. my old battery was a die hard platinum and lasted 10 years.. unfortunately sears stop making it so I bought the gold one hopefully it will last as long as the platinum one.

Ankush Gupta well I wish I had a helpful answer for you but here is how that car ended up; I gave it to my wife to drive it and one day while on her way home from work while passing thru an intersection another lady made a left turn and hit the car enough to be considered by the insurance "Salvage" they payed us $7k for it and we left it on the towing yard. Everything I tried with that car wasn't good enough! Get rid of it if you can and move on! That model wasn't very well built! Now I got myself a Honda Crosstour V6, great vehicle!

Ankush Gupta My car went bad around 55000 miles and at the time of the accident had 97000. Bad news it's that will be very hard to sale and expensive to fix. However do some research and you will find out that there is a way to make it work just like a regular Honda Accord. Then drive it until the wheels will fall off!

I changed the car battery for which I paid $120 from Walmart and everything was back to normal until I started having to jumpstart the car every morning😞 I went back to Walmart with a Brocken 💔 and they said "your battery it's good, the car has an electric drain" that got me investigating the problem... Later one day I went to O'reilly auto store and had them look at my battery and they said " your battery it's bad!" So finally Walmart decided to give me a new replacement and everything it's normal! Was this my problem all along???

I have '06 Accord Hybrid at 115K miles, purchased in CA with 8 year warrantee, working with Honda Corporate to see what they will do for me. Aftermarket batteries ($1.7K, $2.0K, $2.4K) with exchange available at greentecauto.com/hybrid-batteries/honda/honda-accord-hybrid-battery My car is behaving similar to yours. Dealer says car can be driven without battery, but the hybrid benefit is lost. Good Luck! The 2014 Plug In Hybrid Accord looks like a winner, maybe you can upgrade to an electric car.

They turn on when the battery is weak, but the only thing it affects is the mpg, the car still works perfectly without the little power from the electric motors. Plus, the lights turn off days later when the battery charged back up if you do more regenerative braking. Mine only turns on when it's freezing during winter.
