No, the hybrid battery acts as an alternator. It will run off the regular battery until it dies if you stay idle too long

I have this car and now I can't pass a SMOG test in California because of the check engine light being on from the hybrid battery being shot. How have you dealt with smog checks on yours?

no we don't have smog checks here so we never replaced the hybrid battery we sold that car now.

I think the dealer can reprogram the computer for you to lower the battery light threshold, mine was re-programmed at 90k mile while I was still within warranty (powertrain warranty)

It's been on and off now, mostly on during very cold winter times, and so I renew for 2 years from the BMV

Do any of the Hybrid parts of these cars work after 100K ? all the videos i watch on hybrids say that the "hybrid part is shot but it still runs"... what kinda mileage with the Hybrid part? ...

still runs now we didn't mess with the battery just runs off the engine it had 160k when we got it now it has 180k and never had any issues at all. it gets about 28mpg or a little better a best on hwy depending on your speeds.

Same here, 210,000 miles and still going strong, the IMA light off too, only comes on in very cold winter time
