Buy the oil filter with the oil when it's on sale as a bundle deal. Use an oil clamp filter remover tool. I change the filter every time I change the oil.

I don't know about it being the easiest method. More like the messiest most awkward method. Even my first time I would get you need a smaller tool in a cramped space and that you do the last few turns of the oil screw by hand to avoid spillage.

they got the car up high enough, for anything else we would normally use jackstands but to change the oil its easier to use ramps

They're not pathetic, they're perfect. They are for people who don't want or have the space to store full sized ramps. They go into a bag and you can transport them easily. I have them and use them for oil changes and they work.

It takes 5w 20, you grabbed 5w 30

5w-30 is a thicker viscosity and on a high mileage J series Honda engine it makes the valve train a bit quieter, either one is fine though, we just found 5w-30 is better for this engine and the climate we live in. 5w20 is good for a car manufacturer. So that you go buy a new car in 5-7 years. This car needs 10w40 or like a BMW 20W50 if you're going to heat up the car.

because the valve cover gaskets needed to replaced, most j series leak some oil normal
