For 7 years I owned a 2005 Sport model, put 150,000 miles on it with ZERO maintenance issues (the only money I put in it was; gas, oil, brakes & tires) After 150,000 miles though, I continually had fuel delivery issues and electronic issues, I put around $5,000 into it over the course of 14 months with no solution, finally sold it for $1,500. It was a fun car to drive especially if you like curves and or zipping through traffic. The car is surprisingly stable at high speeds, even 120+ mph. Oh it's electronics dont shut it down until 146 mph. The ride quality was decent but firm. The AWD was a plus living is a snowy area. I allways kept good tires on it so I could and would drive 60-70 mph when other drivers were doing 30-40 on snowy icy roads (with no accidents). It has a good sized trunk and a long hood so it made the car look bigger than the seating surface actually is. I am over 6 foot, so in my normal driving position the drivers seat would be within 4 inches of the rear seat, and if i sat in the rear seat my head would literally hit the ceiling. Just wanted to leave an honest feedback of my experience owning and driving a 2005 Jaguar X-type 3.0 Sport. Thank you. Do something good for someone today (')

goshen1975 Hey there, I had a 2004 sport 3.0 5 speed, it was a great car, I had no issues except for the coolant tank which was $30 to replace, but I did blow the clutch out one night when I was drinking and driving this was back in the day when I was young and dumb, it was over 3K to replace so I sold it for 2000, love the car especially with the 18 inch Aruba rims so unique and very rare

Do you recommend buying it after 150 miles or the running cost would be too high ?! Many thanks for your feedback.

Really nice review of a well kept car. It's interesting though how you think everything is small - the seats, the cup holders, the boot (trunk). The car has plenty of rear legroom and I regularly carry three adults in the back. The front seats move much further forward than you show and I can fit six guitar cases in the boot without folding down the seats. The main problem with these cars (as with all modern cars) is that they are over-complicated with too many electronics and sensors to go wrong. In the UK the parts are really cheap and easy to get and the cars are almost valueless so it is easy to get a good one for very little money. I get the impression they are overpriced in the USA.
@nztv8589
@nztv8589 6 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same thing. The Xtype is a medium to large car. It can carry four average to large adults (New Zealand ones anyway) in great comfort with all their luggage. How can a cup holder be too small?! It's just a cup holder! What is he planning to put in there? It's only when you go to America, you realise "everything" is a large size. The Xtype boot if huge, ours is always empty. I don't think I'll ever fill it. I can't think of ever filling it unless I took five adults on a camping trip to a remote location for two weeks.

Concept Symetry Guitars they are cramped in the back. A tall person 6'0+ aka 1.828m or 182.8cm is very uncomfortable in my X-type backseat. The perspective though comes from American car normals. BMW and Mini etc. are common in European countries. America has had virtually no popular Mini size car. No time did we have huge numbers of little 2 seater cars that were really popular. Usually little cars have small groups of enthusiasts for them. Our 4 door sedans are much bigger, and that is the car most people drive here in the USA. In European countries smaller cars are the normal. We are also fat compared to other countries I've heard. I'm 171cm & 19 stone/121kg (265 pounds) with my seat up to a comfortable position, my 182cm son in the backseat has his legs against the back of my seat. Perspective taken into account, you are all correct. It is tight and not tight. It all depends on perspective. By the by my driver seat is PERFECT for me. I have short legs a round body and longer torso. I can't find pants with the right length and waist, but my X-Type Jaguar fits me perrrrfectly :)

Our 2008 X-Type is identical to this car (indigo blue/ivory and Luxury package) with the only difference being we have the optional 18" wheels. Our 2007 is a black/black base model though I installed a set of optional 18" Proteus wheels and a "sport" rear spoiler. Both cars are fantastic! The '08 is our daily driver and the '07 is our "Road trip" car. There are alot of high-mileage trashed X-Types for sale out there, find one with under 100,000 miles and with good maintenance records.

I'm just wondering if premium brands like BMW and Mercedes for example tend less to develop rattling and squeaky noises inside the cabin...
@BornToDriveOfficial
@BornToDriveOfficial 7 жыл бұрын
Daniel Orozco In my experience, the brand doesn't have too much to do with squeaks and rattles. It's more about the overall design of the car and the year it was built. Cars built later in their product cycles well after their redesign are more likely to have less squeaks and rattles.

@@John-Anderson - my X-Type handles fine. Stop looking for reasons to hate a good car based on your limited exposure to it. You talk about how the X-Type is so bad compared to the S-Type, ignoring that some of us don't want the extra dimensions of the S-Type and didn't pay S-Type money. I paid $2250 Canadian for my X-Type with 106,000 km. You imagine it like you could get an S-Type for that money? And fit it in my drive? Ha, no way.
