Ok, thanks to your video I was able to get the whole lift gate open :) However the lift gate sensor is still saying it is open...So my lights wont turn off. Is there any chance you could show me how to replace the actuator for it?? And the name of the specific part to get? I have a 2007 Jeep Cherokee Laredo 4x4.

Hey I'm glad that it worked out for you and you were able to open the gate. Since it was a clients vehicle I didn't have time to make the video showing the removal of the cover and actuator, in his case the mechanism was just really dirty and stuck. I removed it and gave it a really good cleaning, its been working since then. In some cases it may be more than just the actuator not working and would need testing to determine the cause. As for the correct part, just phone a couple of your local autoparts stores and tell them the year, make, model, etc and that you're looking for the liftgate lock actuator, or search "2007 jeep grand cherokee tailgate lock actuator" in amazon and you may also have luck there (just read the item description to be sure). But perhaps try cleaning the mechanical pivot points and sliding parts, I used a clean lube and not something that sticky as it just collects more gunk down the road. But if I recall there were between 8 - 10 screws in the interior trim panel and then you should be able to pull the panel off. There will be plastic rivet clips also holding it in place, be aware these may break and you may also want to use a small screwdriver or pry bar to pop them out of the gate to get the panel off. As for the actuator, there were 2 or 3 bolts holding it in place, just undo them, disconnect the wiring harness and install in reverse order. I hope you manage to get it working!
