I got 320k miles on my 2011 Mazda CX-7 2.5L and it's never broke down on me nor gave me any major issues. Original engine and transmission. I've had my cx7 since New and the only stuff I've done to it was obviously normal maintenance and battery I've replaced the engine mount once and recently got the spark plugs and the drive belts and the valve cover gasket replaced. And the the thermostat was also replaced at 210k miles. That's all I did in terms of replacing these mechanical parts in the last 10 years of owning it. And it still runs strong.

I own till this day the Mazda CX-7 2010 AWD 2.4L (244 Horsepower). In the last 13 years, I had to change the AC Radiator once. A water leakage happened, which I realized when the car started to heat up, so I changed the compartment that holds the water. And then, the water leakage happened again, so I had to change it again. I also had to repair the electrics on my windows multiple times because they did weird noises when I raised them up (water from rain enters the window electrics and screws it up). My roof opening does leak some water inside the car from the rain, which really sucks. I never had an accident with it. Those all came within my 13 years of use. The car is quick. I like how it accelerates. You can feel the 244 HP in action, tbh. The car is smooth and comfy to drive. Some body roll, though, can be felt when taking corners. It's not a major concern, though. The driving experience overall is nice. Never faced engine problems, turbo problems, transmission problems, or any major problems in general. I am growing tired of the car, though, so imma sell it and buy something new because 13 years is too much, lol. The car is really outdated, but it gets the job done. Wouldn't say it's super reliable, but as i said, it gets the job done.

The CX-7 was on the Ford C1 platform, which meant it was more related to the Focus (European MK2) than the Edge. It was the CX-9 that shared a platform with the Edge (CD3).

This was the 1st SUV I've ever purchased. I loved it, I had the Grand Touring model. It was purple but it looked black in certain light. I had such a bad time with this truck. Why through 2 turbos in 1 year at 60k. Then the engine grenaded itself and threw a rod through the bottom of the engine after getting my second turbo replaced. It was just outside the warranty period. My truck was in the shop more time than I drove it. I had to call Mazda corporate to get the engine replaced due to all the issues I was having. I only paid 10% of what they were going to charge me to replace the engine with a brand new one shipped from Japan. I only paid $400 then sold the truck right after. My wife banned me from ever purchasing another Mazda. This truck still has a special place in my heart. It was fun while it lasted. Mazda really took care of a fiasco better than any other car brand. I found out later that these had a major recall on the turbos

I recently bought a second hand cx7 and I must say that the 'little' SUV is lots of fun! It came directly from Japan. Hence, there are a lot more features such as adaptive cruise control, autonomous braking system etc etc. I also owned one of the latest gen BMW and I must say that I really enjoy driving the CX7 if compared to the Bimmer. Fuel consumption might be on a tad high side but it provides quite a lot of fun on the highway. So far, being a 15 year old car, maintenance is not too bad. Just normal oil change and those wear and tear items. Take good care of it and being a Mazda, I don't think it'll disappoint ya. Cheers!

I absolutely ❤ my canyon red, 2007, Grand Touring CX7 turbo with heated, power leather, sunroof & factory Bose. All it asks for are regular oil changes & minor maintenance and thus far it's been my favorite daily driver. However, it much prefers to run on the highway, and I'm happy to oblige! It also scores high on safety rating, which was a factor in my decision to purchase. Zoom-zoom!

I remember driving these around at Hertz Car Rental when I worked there. They were peppy little SUV’s. Wish Mazda would’ve kept the CX-7 nameplate around. Also if I remember correctly, the turbo came out first, then the natural aspirated engine came later be of bad gas mileage, and to have a more affordable CX-7 option.

I would consider this if it had the 3.0 V6, or the 3.7 at least. The 3.7 had water pump issues, but apart from that, they were pretty reliable.

I still own a Pearl White 2009 Mazda MPV, 2.3L Turbo. It shares a lot of the drivetrain with the CX-7 apart from some components which define the ride height. Have owned it for about 6 years now. Never missed a beat. I keep it's maintenance on check. It came from Japan with King-R adjusties which where not suited for the car. Very low and very stiff shocks in my opinion. About 3 years back I replaced them with a set of Tein Flex-Z struts and they are awesome. Car runs on Bridgestones RE-003 that are fantastic. They grip like a mf and provide a very comfortable ride. In some other markets it is known as the Mazda 8. I'm not sure if these made it to the states but I'd strongly recommend that you drive one if you can. Cheers! =)

i own one and will say very very underappreciated. would is hell of a deal on the used car market. Fun to drive, the handling and maneuverability steal the show. if you buy do not purchase the turbo model and make sure AC compressor has already been replaced or negotiate price down as it will have to be replaced 60 - 80000 miles.

1:55 K04 turbo life expectancy is around 80,000 miles. It’s too small and spools at too high rpm... but it’s cheap to buy... but it’s quite difficult to replace. There are no perfect turbochargers, all wear down and fail eventually... nobody should buy a sports car with turbo with out knowing this

Mazdaspeed 6... SUV body... should I need to say more? The engine and drivetrain are weak, but alas it is a sports car’s engine and drivetrain and it requires care and consideration. My 2007 CX7 GT (AWD) is tuned to 17+ psi boost (310 bhp), bigger TMIC and better air filter box (still enclosed to avoid noise), transmission fluid cooler so it’s temperature doesn’t go beyond 65 deg C above ambient when driving at 140 mph (with out it transmission temp went to 115+ deg C, which could degrade the fluid) K04 failed, two GDI injectors failed (recently)... I don’t see any other vehicle that comes close, no vehicle from VW 😂 (Audi)

Ryan made a bad choice. A 15 year old compact SUV that you have to put $5K into is already behind the curve even if he got it for free. He would have been better off buying a similar mileage RAV4 which likely would not have needed such a cash dump.

This is a very valid suggestion and honestly it is pretty cool pursuing an SUV version of a Mazda speed 3. I’ve driven one before and was genuinely surprised with how fast it is and on top of that there is a lot of moding capability especially with this car. Gas mileage will probably always be a problem but that doesn’t mean you could have a pretty fucking screaming SUV

I have a 2011 Mazda cx7 base model with the 2.5 5 speed auto. I bought it this past May with 152,000 kms. The only thing I have done is replaced one O2 sensor, the transmission fluid, oil change and I have to do the questionable cheap brakes the Mazda dealership put on it at the request of the previous owner. It has a full service history at three different Mazda dealerships in Ontario. It currently sits at 164,000 kms right now. Just got my winter tires on it and at the same time bought new summers for it as it did need them. I’m happy with it. Looking forward to running it to 300,000 kms or even 400,000 kms

RAV4?? 🤦‍♀️ The CX7 is actually the Mazdaspeed 6 with a bigger body, same drivetrain just less power output (at stock) Mine has 185,000 km, tuned @17+ psi @310 bhp (234 whp, because it’s AWD), has a top speed of 220 km/h and literally outclass anything similar on performance alone. I had to change the K04 once which is normal, but the thing that hurt was replacing the first GDI injector (center cylinders go first), because it is a huge amount of work and the injector itself has to OEM quality (not cheap) I have driven almost everything, in this class I don’t see anything that could be close... shame for the low fuel economy, but alas it’s AWD and with tons of power

My friend leased one for 2 years. It was a FUN car to drive! Fill it with Premium gas and it definitely felt peppier than the Regular it could run on. It was a fairly spacious crossover and with the seats down we could haul all of our DJ gear for an event. The tires it came with were fairly wide for the category. It definitely ripped on the highway.

Your problem was the turbo and ford 6 speed auto. I have a cx7 base model with the 2.5 and Toyota 5 speed auto and it has been amazing. Bought in May of this year with 152,000 kms, one owner, dealer serviced. I have put 12,000 kms on it already and the only thing I had to change was an O2 sensor.

CX7 Grand Touring = totally equipped, AWD (like mine) CX7 Touring = totally equipped (fog lights and chromed door handles, no AWD) CX7 Sport = cheapest version, no fog lights or chromed door handles or boss sound system... just FWD A big mistake from Mazda... they made this Mazdaspeed 6 with the SUV body and sold it to n00bs, including women, who don’t know much about cars and how to care for them. The 2.3L DISI is very fragile if not using the right type of lubricant and changing intervals, the suspension is not soft and if the driver is not careful passing speed bumps slowly it will wear off quite fast. I on the other hand am the opposite he he...
