So, since this video seems to have attracted a bunch of attention for some odd reason, ill follow up on this. the carrier bearing was bad, right out of the box. poor manufacturing on the part of dorman, a little internet research shows its a known issue. best bet seems to be with with a new OEM toyota bearing. as far as vibration, the ujoint angles just arent correct, all their is too it. mine was only out a degree or two, so it wasnt bad. best fix for everything is to go to a 1 piece driveshaft with a double cardan joint at the transmission, as it does away with the carrier bearing entirely, and also insures you maintain the correct operating angle for the joints. for this fix, theres a writeup with part numbers available on Tacomaworld.com if you are a DIY person, or any reputable driveshaft shop should be able to do it if you arent.

@@mikeym4860 It was much easier than I thought it was gonna be and acceleration imroved... annoying clunk went away. Went for some used tires at a local tire dealer and scored 4 brand new hankook tires for a steal. It quietly got up to 287k miles with only the rumble of the muffler and no drivetrain/suspension noise. I sold it after I thought I found the perfect Suburban and ended up leaving the dealer in a 2012 Acura TL 😅. My seach for a 2010-2014 Suburban is on again. Love live Chevy

Grab your driveshaft and wiggle(shake) it by the U-Joints. Does it move at all? If yes then replace your U-Joints.
@brettwatsonphoto2 жыл бұрын
The driveshaft can also move too much if the rubber bushing around the bearing is failing or has failed. And when that happens the moving/rotating driveshaft can make contact with that rubber and cause squealing.
