I have the same issue on my 2006 lexus es330- brake lights stuck on even with car engine off. Was looking for the switch the other night and couldn't find the darn thing, but I think you just made it much easier to locate it now. Hopefully is the same since it's a Toyota basically. Looks like you have to move your seat all the way back and lay on your back and crawl under there with your feet over the seat. Also. have a couple led lights to see in there. It is back breaking.

I also want to say that if you are temporarily taking the fuse and the hope that it drives it will not go into gear unless you have that fuse put in.

Excellent video mate, thank you for the information! Looks as though the green bumper has disintegrated and was causing the brake lights to stick on. Silly me thought it was the switch and broke it whilst removing it. Looks like I'm up for a switch and green Rubber bumper pad piece as well.

Great video. 2005 Avalon. Brake lights stayed on, drained the battery. Green bits of plastic scattered on the floor by the brake pedal. Case closed.

I'm about to try this, question is how do you want the brake light positioned? Should it be pushed up against the green plastic piece when you install, or do you leave a little room?

Couple of comments. 1) you can buy the replacement green piece(disk) for about $3 at the toyota dealer. You can test if it is the switch or just the disk by using a screwdriver to reach in and push the switch to see if the lights go out. 2) Replacing just the disk is easier to do if the car is running, because you can depress the brake further giving you a little more room. If you have a helper, have him use a plank to depress the brake pedal. The helper is in the back seat, as you can best reach the area by placing the back of the driver's seat all the way down and going in upside down (with a headlamp). Longer arms would have helped, but a fit 64 (and 10 months) year old can complete the repair. 3) trying to position the replacement piece is difficult, wish I had had some forceps, but if you lineup the nob on the disk with the hole on the brake pedal, your helper can SLOWLY release the brake pedal, which pops the nob on the disk into the hole on the brake pedal. 4) Others have suggested just gluing a penny or dime to the roundish plate with the hole on the brake pedal.

I have an 2002 Lexus es300 that has the replace rear bulb light on the dash. All of the lights work and the fuses are good. I wonder if the brake switch has something to do with it.

@@Greenbear39 there are two sets of bulbs in the breaking lights. One is the permanent on when you turn on the lights. Another is for braking. So just buy a pair of bulbs and replace them 😂

I already replaced all the bulbs going to replace the brake pedal switch tomorrow I will let you know if that resolves the issue. I have no break lights at all on the back of car just the one in the rear window when I push the brake pedal. 🤯

The green piece is not for the switch. it is for the brake pedal. it is just a plastic disk, like a washer or spacer. it keeps the brake switch plunger pressed/pushed into the brake switch housing. when the brake pedal pressed a gap creates between the brake switch and this green piece. then the brake switch plunger comes out to fill the gap. when the plunger comes out the switch becomes on and the brake lights iluminates.

@@LehewTech So as of two week ago I had an issue with my break lights being on all the time. It wasn't because of the break peddle switch, that was fine. It was something beyond that apparently there's a relay switch that malfunctioned. It cause the Anti Swerving to come on and it made the Break light turn all the time. The only way I could have turned it of and not have a drain on my battery was to pull out the fuse. I have a 2015 Prius. I couldn't say what the relay switch looks like, but I do have a part number which cost me 600 bucks to fix. The dealership told me they had to pull my dashboard off to get it replaced.

Tip: If the brake light fuse is removed or is blown, the transmission lockout will not work and you can't push the button to put the car in gear. At least that's the way it is on my 2006 model.
